The main reason I'd said next year is in terms of printing and arranging it. So chances are I'll set this up via some POD service (lulu or something similar) so it can be done properly.

So would this be ROTF-centred or are we doing a general all-purpose Transformers? The former would make it more "authentic".

ROTF would be more authentic true.
But it is pants.
Hmmm, decisions decisions. But I'm easy, I like a challenge to get the creative juices flowing.

An ROTF annual. Now that is something of a challenge. Remember though, just cos ROTF was pants doesn't mean the annual has to be! All we are doing is setting an annual in the same universe as it were.

If anyone wants to do something with my Catilla/Laserbeak/Buzzsaw plot, maybe working it as a cut scene from ROTF or Soundwave's revenge what-should-have-been-at-the-end-of-the-end-credits (cutting out the reference to Shockwave) they're welcome to take up the challenge. Martin

I have an idea.
You could make the Annual an "All Generations" type thing.
You could devote 5-pages of comic strip (or whatever) to certain aspects of the Transformers universe.
So;
A "The Transformers" story, based on Marvel UK, a "Transformers Animated" missing episode, a "The Transformers" story, based on Sunbow... Masterforce... Beast Wars... whatever.
It'd be kind of like a comic-stories only version of T-25, but at least gives all the creators a chance to produce something based on their own favourite aspects of the Transformers.
Just a suggestion.

I'm all for broadening my horizons etc. so doing something in the ROTF vein wouldn't be too bad - but I'm so bored and uninspired by their designs/universe that it'd be tough to come up with anything worth reading. Not that I can usually come up with something interesting anyway...hehe.

Not trying to persuade against the Rotf theme, but Graham reminded me of an episode of Beast Wars that was never made but would have been cool to see, in which Rhinox discovers the personality download Dinobot made before he died, and Rattrap tries to force it into Dinobot 2. It was supposed to succeed, albeit briefly, and it also helped explain his change of heart in the final episode.

It was on the net a few years back, no clue where to find it now though.

You could make the Annual an "All Generations" type thing. I suppose no idea will be everyone's cup of tea, but I would find this quite a turn-off. I mean, T-25 has already done this. I'd rather see something with a consistent style and theme (and continuity) - like the Marvel annuals had. I mean, it would be a bit irritating for everyone except those who love everything if all the official books in the shops had 20% of it Sunbow-based, 20% Marvel-based, 10% Japanese, 10% Beast Wars, 10% IDW, 15% live-action-based and 15% Animated-based, and you had to buy the whole thing just to get the bits that interested you. Better to have Sunbow-based books, Marvel-based books, Beast Wars books, etc. Likewise, not every TMUK project has to be broad enough in scope to engage everyone's interest. If ROTF isn't popular enough on the Hub, why don't you do an Animated-theme annual, since it seems to have more fans here? As the series has finished, you'd have more of a free reign on the plot - and more willing artists. I didn't stick with the series myself so I'd sit it out contribution-wise, but I'd buy and read it out of curiosity of what you guys come up with. Martin

I would struggle to find anything of interest in Animated either, to be honest.
Personally, I like Graham's idea.

I dunno, I guess it's just that except in an exceptional case like T-25 (where having something from every year was the theme), having lots of people doing unrelated stuff and then stapling it together and calling it a joint project doesn't really strike me as any sort of collaboration. Why bother staple them all together and insist on people buying all or none of it if the stories have nothing to do with one another?
