Heathcliff is a classic and in the early 90's they were re-run on Sunday mornings at 6am. For several weeks I got up at a stupid time on Sunday morning just to watch it!
On a side note, I've got a DVD containing five episodes of Heathcliff on and in one episode the animators decided to sneak in something for the parents (or more specifically the fathers). In one scene Heathcliff is chasing somebody towards a supermarket and when he reaches the door of the shop he knocks over a woman in a short skirt. For just a few seconds her knickers are revealed - something that the kids watching it wouldn't notice!

When people refer to the Heathcliff cartoon they usually mean the more well known Heathcliff show that has already been mentioned here. But there were two other Heathcliff cartoons that preceded this one. One is called Heathcliff and Dingbat and the other was called Heathcliff and Marmaduke.
Here is the first one of these two

Here's the second series of the Heathcliff cartoon called Heathcliff and Marmaduke. The theme song is sung by Jazz ... er, I mean Scatman Crothers!

Does anybody remember a kids show that was on at dinnertimes in the 80's called Hokey Cokey? If I remember correctly it starred two dolls - one named Hokey and other named Cokey. I think the show alternated with another more well known show called You & Me during the weekdays. Anyway, I can't find any videos of the show on Youtube so instead I'll end as I finished the H's - by putting up another video of Henry's Cat but this time it's the alternate theme tune version.

This week is another double letter week because they're aren't all that many shows beginning with the letter I so we are onto I - J
And we will start off with a classic cartoon that I rank as one of my favourites:

Well, it's definitely not as good as I remembered it being when I was a kid. But I guess my general love for cheesy monsters meant I was always gonna have a soft spot.

I brought the Dungeons & Dragons DVD's when they were each released individually. A classic cartoon from the day that I still like to this day.

Here's a 'J' I enjoyed that I think was shown in the early '80s. Probably made earlier. Can't be bothered to look it up. www.youtube.com/watch?v=-B_FQKHQDYkThe opening credits are worth watching if only for the insane episode title at the end. Martin

Jamie and the Magic Torch was from the late 70's but was repeated in the 80's along with a number of other classic 70's kids shows.

I've just remembered a couple of factual kids shows that I think were from the late 80's and began with the letter I. The first is one called Ipso Facto which I remember nothing about other than the title and the other is this one called Is That A Fact? The latter I remember the opening lines of the theme tune which goes like this: King Canute sat on a beach and told the waves "get out of reach" Is That a Fact? Is that a fact?
I don't remember anything else about the show and Youtube has also drawn a blank on it.

I always thought this guy looked disturbingly like a flying dog/plane hybrid with a bandana. Back before turtles, the "mask" made me distrustful...

I'm sure that Jimbo and the Jet Set was made by the same studio that brought us the Family Ness and Penny Crayon because the animation style is identical to those two.

So how did you feel about blue tits? Martin Looks disturbingly like a swimming Golf cart/ tray of expensive china about to visit the opera. Before Burt Ward as Robin, it made me itch.

Jackanory was a great show, especially when Kenneth Williams was on.
In a similar vein, The Book Tower was good too: and had Lord Tom!

I never watched Jackanory as a kid because I found it too boring. I went to school and read a few books there and so, the last thing I wanted to do was watch a TV show where somebody read books!
Now that I'm older I recognise the importance of the show but still wonder how it survived the 80's when computers were the must have thing in the shops and MTV was on TV.

I found Jackanory boring. I couldn't figure out what it offered that you couldn't get by having a book read to you by a real person, or reading it yourself.
It probably was good, and incredibly useful for some kids, but I can't say it added anything to my life.

I only used to watch that because 'Mysterious Cities Of Gold' was on after it. When I were young I didn't like live action kids shows, and I still don't, really...
