My fourth attempt and I finally I own a working NESand its boxed and only cost £8. I'm utterly thrilled. I can stop trying to clean and fix the pins on the other three, just have to make sure the games are nice and clean before I use them on the new one. Then I can play TMNT, Wrestlemania something, Smash TV and Ghostbusters 2 and Barbie..........

Really pleased for you man.
I never owned a NES myself and always wanted one. Virtual Console and Emulators are just not the same...

Agreed. Theres something good about using the original system. Now the only Nintendo I'm missing is the Virtual Boy which I think I can do without.

The Virtual Boy is a very underrated system. Some absolute awful games but there's good stuff too and plenty of fun to be had.

I loved the idea, but the one time I tried it in some TRU?Walmart/Target or some such I dont think it was set up properly as I couldnt get it to do anything. As that was the only time I ever saw it or even heard about it my view of it is split down the middle between wow and ugh!

Aha, another collector of Nintendo consoles. I brought a boxed NES off Ebay about a couple of years ago for about £25. The pins aren't working properly but that doesn't bother me for two reasons - I've played very little of it since I brought it and I was planning on replacing the pins at some point with ones that can play American games. I obtained several old issues of Nintendo Power off Ebay a while ago also and some of the US only games look good.
My NES console currently sits out of harms way downstairs far way from my boxed SNES, my once boxed N64, my 2 Game Boy colors (one of which is boxed), my Game Boy Advance, my Game Boy Advance SP and my original Nintendo DS.... oh and my Gamecube which is plugged into the TV in my bedroom and the Wii which is plugged into a TV downstairs!
