Has there ever been a map of Cybertron done? Seems after 25 years the answer should be yes but nothing's ringing any bells. If not, I recommend it for Andy T's next art project!

There was kind of a map in the DK "Ultimate" guide thing. But that looked based on the DW version of Cybertron.
We could always assign city names to the Cybertron Primus toy... that has some pretty distinct looking cities on it.

Was it a globe map or whatever you call top down maps?

Dammit!!!
No there hasn't been a map as far as I can recall. To be honest a map wouldn't really be all that interesting as a project on it's own. But as a guidebook like some of the Marvel Atlas issues it could be worth having a go at.

It was really just a pic of Cybertron with arrows pointing to certain bits.

I think it was just one arrow with the text "Cybertron".

From a quick glance at fansites it seems when Transformers map is mentioned, for some reason everyone thinks of the planet with arrows pointed at it. I'm thinking Lord of the Rings style top down drawings.

Definitely nothing like that has been done.

Well I suppose the first steps are how many regions are there, how are the regions separated, how much is water, how much is mountains, where should we put the sea dragon...

Actually I wouldn't mind seeing the Risk board game map if someone on the internet had scanned it in big enough to actually read it.

Well, before anyone can draw a map of Cybertron they have to decide: - how big it is (if it's really Saturn-sized then you shouldn't be able to distinguish any buildings or roads from orbit) - how many levels require maps to be drawn (remember Cybertron is hollow to a large degree, and probably has entire city-states that are underground - you can't even just colour the surface to show which faction controls which part of the planet, as you could have a province controlled by Autobots on top of an underground province controlled by Decepticons on top of another one where there be dragons) - what the timeframe is (the map of countries and land uses on Earth constantly changes with time and Cybertron will do likewise) - what all the regions and city-states are, and which ones need to border each other - the location and size of mountain ranges and seas Seems to me that one map won't do the job. You really need an atlas showing different levels and different eras. Martin

Sounds like you might be interested in helping put that together!
I agree an atlas is the way to go, it's something that would be a decent magazine length project to work on.
Give the magazine a "current" timeframe and pick a date. Then have historical sections discussing the war and key junctures in it and how the geopolitical landscape was at the time. The era of Overlords, early war etc, etc.

The Cybertron maps in DK's Ultimate Guide book only has four pages dedicated to it. The first two pages (pages 10 and 11 in the book) is a globe map showing one full side of Cybertron while on the next two pages we get a couple of close-ups of Iacon. Nothing special to look at so maybe some Hubbers here could do a much better job.

A Cybertron atlas would be quite a fun project to develop. Plenty of opportunity for looking at Cybertron from a "big picture" point of view and getting into what make it unique (the multi-layered nature of parts of it, the idea of it as having had many nations that have vanished under the tides of the Great War etc).
