I got the two cash in novels from the first film, but have yet to get through them.
And, isn't "Veiled Threat" just a synonym for "Phantom Menace"?

I got Ghosts of Yesterday by Alan Dean Foster, it was alright. Readable but not all that exceptional. The novelisation of the film was so dull I couldn't get more than about thirty pages in.
Speaking of books - I think it's time you tried to read Hardwired again G!!!

You know what. That needs to be done at the bar! A team effort as well I don't think any mortal man could read aloud the whole book on his own.

I will attempt the entire first chapter, or die trying.

DK's 'The Movie Universe' was out in FPG, by the Fur-Man. Typical DK quality. Appears to be an update of the similar 2007 guide to characters in the movie.

I picked up The Veiled Threat prequel novel. This is like a sort of self-harm.

I gave up on TF novels after I stopped reading Hardwired after about four chapters.

I picked up The Veiled Threat prequel novel. This is like a sort of self-harm. -Ralph It's actually surprisingly readable, Alan Dean Foster putting in some effort this time. Decent focus on interesting action sequences in unusual locations and it has an evil garbage truck Transformer called Macerator, which is a winner for me. Not bad disposable tie-in fare. The first 'official' Transformer novel I've read that hasn't caused me physical pain. It's not worth going out your way to find a copy (this is no Eugenesis) but not likely to hurt you too much if you have a weak moment in the bookshop. -Ralph

Alas, the novelisation is a chore to get through. Foster appears to have difficulty engaging with the script and pretty much gives up trying to give it any life in the second half. Some plot points are clearer and thankfully the low-brow humour of the film is underplayed, but one for completists only.

I've ordered The Art of Transformers off Amazon. It's past the due date but is still on preorder. I hope it doesn't disappear into the ether, as I was very disappointed that there wasn't a "making of" for the first film.
