Should Sideswipe have been Tracks?

Sideswipe is perhaps my favourite Fallen Dave toy so far, at least in robot mode, but I think it's a shame that he's not Tracks. Sideswipe's car mode is a Corvette Stingray, which is what Tracks transformed into. It would have been nice to have that connection to the original.

The portion of the car that folds up behind the robot's head looks vaguely like the equivalent feature in the original Tracks toy (admittedly it also looks vaguely like the original Sideswipe's jetpack) and it would have been relatively simple to engineer the bonnet parts of that portion to fold out to resemble Tracks' wings.

The new toy doesn't really look like either the original Tracks or Sideswipe so it could easily have been either character. Of course, Sideswipe is higher up the Autobot pecking order so was a more natural choice for the film, if not necessarily the toys.

I suppose Tracks remains a good candidate for a a repaint of the toy, but I imagine the wing remoulding is too much to hope for.

Expect Hasbro have already got the Sunstreaker & red Sideswipe repaints ready to roll & might just do Tracks too.

I thought of Sunstreaker being a more likely repaint, but then I thought perhaps he's a character they'd likely want to keep in reserve for the next film.

Seibertron.com posted a pic of a red repaint with a different head that is in a later toy wave - Not called Sideswipe tho.

I still hold hope that a Gen 1 repaint will surface. Silversipe has grown on me but I still in think he should have been red. After all, red cars work well on film as Speilberg will know.

Expect they would do a number of repaints - the toys wouldnt be in the shops when the next film turns up - but at least can be there for turning up in the comic. Notice in the first issue of V2 we didnt see any [ie Cybertron/Energon repaints]

I don't think Tracks would have been ruthless enough to slice am unarmed Decepticon in half.

Of course, he would have sliced a rug on the dancefloor. Maybe for Transformers 3.
