I think you are just in the wrong city there Ralph. I can testify that not only did it snow this morning (I was in full waterproof trousers/black coat/gloves ensemble as a result, but that it has been snowing this evening which has left around a centimetre of snow on the ground at the moment.
Looks like it is pettering out before it can be channelled all the way along the central rift valley from west to east coast.

Today the snow was coming down horizontally and there were brief spurts when I couldn't see more than 10m in front of me.

Frequently on and off here since about lunchtime.
Not in a sustained enough burst to settle though.

Been playing in the snow here! Hurrah!
Earlier it was coming down so much it was a white-out for a while. I went outside and stood in it!

No snow here, it's mostly gone but lots of ice, and it's colder than a witch's tit out there. Tomorrow the pavements will be treacherous.

Yesterday was snow, followed by heavy rain to wash it away, followed by new snow, followed by more rain, followed by.... etc. Then at some point during the night the rain forgot to have its turn and this morning there was a few inches of snow about. I had to go in work due to other people not being able to. I kept an eye on the traffic reports and at one point there was 21 incidents listed locally; vehicles skidding, jackknifed trucks and all sorts. I'm not that surprised though as on the way to work I observed several cars come speeding past despite the conditions.
This afternoon the rain came again and now apart from a light coating on grassy areas, there's no snow about. I assume it'll be back in the morning.

If it helps we didn't have a snowball fight in the end. We discussed the quantum mechanical basis of nuclei spin dynamics instead.

None at all. However we were as fashionably dressed and as 'cool' as you might expect four physicists to be.
