Thanks to Nick for he did indeed banish the rain for a few mins and I made my escape.
Good Nick foiled you, fool!

It was cold this morning, and we had several flurries of snow. Sadly it has been raining steadily this afternoon and evening, melting most of the snow, and shows no sign of letting up.

I see that they are forecasting temperatures down to -6 Celsius in towns et al tonight. I thought it felt like a cold evening. Time to deploy the warming hot chocolate this evening. (Mind you, that is nothing compared to the countryside - they are apparently promising -15C out there. Well and truly nippy).

No snow but a bit slippy underfoot and the canal was partly frozen over.
Started digging out the waste dump that is supposed to be the rear exit to the tenement this afternoon. We got about two feet of it excavated by the time it started raining. In that first two feet we filled one garden refuse sack with leaves and small debris, another sack with random planks of rotted wood (including most of a cricket bat), and we found two broom handles, four glass bottles and a double mattress with a thriving algae and fungi population. Also what looks like most of an old school desk and a broken vegetable drawer from an unidentifiable model of fridge. I do not regret getting the extra thick gardening gloves.

I haven't left the house for 2 days, I just found out it is snowing. I have no idea how long for, but I feel I have chosen the right days to take off work.

Today is the day the boiler pressure has dropped and will not repressurise. So no heating. It's currently -1C.

That was an unpleasant night. Forecast tonight is -2 and it hasn't been above zero today. Will the boiler be fixed in time? Will it be a trip to Asda for more jumpers? The tension mounts.

And fixed.
It is now just the usual 'bracing' inside mid-Winter temperature rather than the 'my balls have shrivelled up and died' arctic blasts of last night.

Ralph has been very annoyed that he has not had his day of snow this Winter. The season is wrong without one day of snow. He was excited by today's 'heavy snow' forecast for today...and yet mild weather and clear skies!!!! He has just checked the BBC Weather app again and it tells him the Heavy Snow is happening right now. No, no it isn't and evening stroll after dinner methinks.
I just want a day of €+}*}$#$}$* snow.
