Horizontal rain sheets here. Makes one feel... mortal...

More fence panels down here. Built a small brick wall to shore up the gates. And turns out our church has many leaks. The weird scarecrow bird thing in the church garden is also somehow surviving but being whipped around its poll somewhat frantically.

We finally got a storm. All 60 seconds of it. -Ralph I'm not sure what caused all the overnight damage in the area then nor what storm I walked through this morning to church that drenched everyone and exposed all the leaks in the church windows. The flooding in Ashton also requires an explanation. All I can surmise is the combined powah of Ralph and Jen banished the clouds around them.

The flooding in Ashton also requires an explanation. All I can surmise is the combined powah of Ralph and Jen banished the clouds around them. Jen and I were out and it was fine. It was so quiet later that I went out to get icy for the stickies. Then later I went for a walk. Other than a 60 second storm it was fine! I saw no flooding when I did a circuit of the town. -Ralph

There was a period of niceness for a few hours this afternoon. Back to rain and now hail as well this evening.

"Storm of the Century" is a touch exaggerated but every where has taken a battering. www.bbc.co.uk/news/blogs-the-papers-51438815Flooding in Bury area apparently as a river burst its banks last night. Take care. I can only hope my Train Powers help make it through to work.

It was yesterday, chum.
Big heavy ceramic plant pots at front of house blown over and broken by wind during the night.
My Train Powers got me through this morning. Minimal delay.

This one isn't as bad even here in Blackpool where it was meant to hit hard.
Still no idea how you missed last week's, but you can come and put my fence back up if you like.

I've come home to find a leak through the ceiling in our back room. Not too troubling as the plan this year is to knock that room down (it's a prefab extension put up in the seventies I want to bin and replace with a proper one). I knew that flat roof would leak eventually. The fun will be how to remove the water - there is a sheet of insulation in the roof which is inside a plastic cover. There's a huge bulge of water collecting in the plastic in the corner which has pushed out the ceiling tile under it. If I push up on the bulge I've no idea where the water will go, so I think I'm going to have to poke a tiny hole in the plastic to drain it, but then that of course means it'll leak worse all the time.
Probably worth me videoing me doing that as it could be comedy gold if it goes wrong.

The Moors around Ralph and I often self-light in hot weather but more often than not it is some test with a cigarette butt or BBQ and no sense that sets them off. Smoke was very strong here as well today.

It had been very warm with little rain last few weeks so fire hopefully a natural one. We have strong smell of smoke inside even though windows closed.
