The rain is literally bouncing off the pavement and hitting my windows...and I'm on the first floor!

Its snowing here on the Staffordshire/Derbyshire border in the Midlands.
Snow in October, it must be the end of the world.

Last week's storms have abated and we're now in deep freeze mode. I'm surprised it has not snowed here yet.

Its been both nowing and raining at the same time here in Leicestershire so it must be some strange phenomenon hitting the Midlands.

It has been absolutely perishing in Falkirk. When I was walking home from the station at half-six this evening I could feel that the grass had been frosted - bearing in mind that the sun had gone down at most a couple of hours previously that is good going. It is currently still darned chilly and crystal clear out there. I'm anticipating an extremely crisp and cold start tomorrow morning.
Still, it is a nice change from the torrential downpours.

Don't forget, we're only two months from the Time Wars epicentre - 1 January 2009. The Midlands are just copping the fringes of what is happening right now on planet Quintesson.

Lots of heavy hail today. It's a stay-in day, methinks. I wonder if it will snow later.

Huge winds this morning and last night.
In fact, the poor dog peed over himself this morning as he cocked his leg into the wind. Poor thing. Still, it's a lesson I've learned myself in the past.

I was indoors at work all day but going to and coming from the shop were not fun times.

It was quite nice in Dunfermline today, I even managed to go out for a run. Although the t-shirt/short combo was not fun at the start of the aforementioned run.

Who says the BBC are dumbing down? A weather bulletin on BBC Breakfast this morning: "many places will see more sunshine than yesterday, especially those places that didn't see any."

Was walking home today with sunshine, howling wind, thunder, bins and fences flying past and heavy rain. I then noticed that the Time Wars weather was following me wherever I went as looking through the downpour and debris revealed calm. I'm sure I saw a few drivers flip of their wipers when they realised the freakish weather they'd been passing through had stopped.
Shit. I'm Galvatron and it's come to claim me!!

For the good of us all, you must be sacrificed to the glowing swirly thing in the sky. I'm sorry, but it's for the best.

There's been wind from the bowels of Hell these past few days in my area but nothing much today.

I've had a bit of variety weather-wise over the last couple of days. Yesterday it was blowing a howling gale over Billingham, with a wind-chill dropping the apparent temperature to about -6C. Then early this morning the wind dropped and a centimetre or so of snow fell from the sky. But back up here in Scotland there is no sign even of much rain, but the temperature is deep in the "Frozen in an iceberg" realms.
I am deeply thankful for hot coffee and a hot water bottle for my bed.

EDIT: Hang on, is the book that Galvatron is upset about that is being taken up the space-time swirly thing a copy of All Hail Megatron?

It was just reported on the news that a thousand homes in Yorkshire are without electricity. How exactly does snow cause power failure anyway?

There are a few things that can cause that. Sometimes it is because it brings down or shorts out the high tension cables in the distribution grid. Other times, if the snow is associated with high winds - which it often is on the Moors - the wind can bring down the lines instead.

Ah, I see, thank you.
I'm glad there's an actual physical reason and not just what it appears to be: the meltdown of the country's infrastructure whenever there's a cold snap.
Nobody here needs a train today, do they?
