The snow has sort-of melted into an inch-thick layer of snooker-ball smooth ice covering the whole of Govan, and the extreme temperatures (and constant gritting?) have opened up a pothole in the road my bus has to travel along to take me away from work that you could actually fit an entire bus inside so that other vehicles could continue their journey by driving across its roof. Anyway, that meant I had to walk 3/4 of a mile along what can only be described as a public access ice rink to get to the nearest accessible bus stop.
Fun.

Seems I was lying, it snowed all last night and is still snowing now...funny this is, the day it starts to snow again, the trains all seem to be fine

The snow has meant we've had no refuse collections this year, and the streets are fill of rubbish. Hopefully now condistions are back to normal we'll get our rubbish picked up!

This is more like it. We have a good three inches of snow this morning, just right for it to look really nice without making it too difficult to get around by foot. The wind was driving it so there are drifts and snow stuck up the east side of everything. I haven't seen this much snow since my winter in Stirling (the start of 2001).
It snowed last Tuesday and we've got much more this week, so we didn't bother putting the bins out this morning - the bin men didn't make it last Wednesday so it didn't seem likely today. They did come a day later last week.

It's still snowing around here and the binmen are actually picking up the rubbish more frequently than usual.

Cardiff had a fresh covering last night, which meant I had a nice pleasant walk to work again (on fresh snow rather than the compressed snow / ice of the last few days). The refuse collections have not been disrupted. Martin

The ice/snow has mostly been gone for a few days now I have to admit dark 'why am I paying Council Tax' thoughts are going through my mind. -Ralph

We still have a fair amount of ice hanging around off the main roads in Falkirk. The main thoroughfares and the centre of town are clear but the side streets are still reasonably thick with it.
We haven't seen a rubbish collection since before New Year, and we are now in the situation that no-one even knows which bins are being picked up this week, so most folk around here have two wheelie bins out on the pavement at the moment. I'm not going to bother putting out a bin until I know where we are in the rotation. No point in putting out the wrong bin because they won't uplift it anyway.

My local council gives us a leaflet just before Christmas telling us which bins are being picked up in which week for the entire period up until the beginning of February so we know exactly which bins to put out.

The rain came down last night and washed all of the snow away. Maybe things will get back to normal now.

We've had no more snow but everywhere seems to be wet. Still, I suppose its better than having snow all over the place.

That's actually quite worrying because you live somewhere near where I do I think.
