Another hot day today and I have discovered that while this hot weather persists I keep going down to the shop to purchase a Magnum ice cream.

After a couple of days respite the hayfever is back with a vengeance. Plans for a long walk and a trip to the cinema have been curtailed after a trip to the shops for food this morning left me feeling rather unwell on exposure to the atmosphere. Don't think it's going to be a fun summer!

I have had a cold of recent but it has cleared up now. I'm one of the fortunate few not to suffer from Hayfever so my summers are largely in fine health for me.

It's wierd. When I was growing up I had always been taught that I live in the East Midlands. Not long after I started college, everyone seemed to change their minds and say South Midlands. But I live about 20 mins from East Midlands Airport. Maybe I live in the Mid-Southeast Midlands...

We've had it light here, just an inch or so. About half of that has gone and the roads are mostly clear. I feel quite disappointed, really.
Of course, a few miles down the road in the valleys it's much worse.

The snow in my area comes and goes. We had a quick bit of snowfall this morning but otherwise we've still got the existing snow from the past week or so.

In Falkirk itself I would say that we have had a total of about five inches since the snow started - much of which has frozen and is still around as a hard-packed crust of ice s. A mile and a half or so out of town I'd say that it is nearer to six to seven inches.
We haven't had any major snow fall since the second, just the occasional light dusting overnight.

We've had tons! Well, four or five inches. I couldn't get to work the other day! Turned into my local station (which I don't usualy work at) and crewed up there. First job was a Lady in labour!!!! I was ready to set up shop in the house, but she insisted on being transported, through the thick snow, to hospital. Just got there in time! Thank God!
Had mucho fun with Piglet in the snow. She loves the stuff. Made various snowmen, although at times the snow has not been the correct type of snow for optimum snowman building- it's been rather fluffy snow. There has been sledging in abundance and the building of snow mountains. Marvelous.

One of my friends on Facebook recently wrote on his status update that he was glad his missus was building a snowman in the back garden because when the snow completely thaws out all of the dog shit will be in a neat pile!
I found it amusing!

Now THAT is a lot of snow.In Glasgow it hasn't snowed since the brief flurry on Wednesday morning. The whole world seems stained with salt by now. The buses are caked in brown smears that almost cover the windows and the pavements are a sort of orangey slush that refuses to melt because it rarely rises above -5C. Despite the orange sludge that coats most of the highways and byways of the city the place still looks quite picturesque, although when you're out in it it's so extremity-snappingly cold that I find I don't care. The long ice crystals angled against the prevailing wind like comet tails trailing off the edges of every exposed metal object are quite unnerving, though. -Nick

PHEEE-EEEWW (Or however you spell that whistle sound.) It's like an ice age map! It's surprising how clear most of Ireland is.

We're currently having our first heavy daytime snowfall. It looks to be about half an inch in half an hour. The wind's driving it.
