Drama which aired on BBC4 this week regarding the fortunes of Sinclair and Acorn computing of the early 1980's. Evokes the period very well and quite witty. The performance of the chap playing Clive Sinclair has to be seen to be believed. It's pretty unique.
Well worth booting up the iPlayer for.

It was Alexander Armstrong.
Good fun. There was an american film a few years back with Noah Wylie as Steve Jobs, can't remember who played Bill Gates. Pirates of Silicon Valley I think it was called. Also worth watching.

I just watched a repeat of this on bbc4, and I have to say I quiet enjoyed it. An interesting look into famed computers everyone in this country must have owned or used sometime. When I left school 10 years ago they still used BBC micros for teaching programming.

We still used BBC Micros alongside Apple Mac's when I left school in 1995.

Thankful for the iPlayer because after a few months of no trouble my BBC4 has suddenly remembered it doesn't work properly. Though it was a bit stop/start.
Anyway, yes good performances and I enjoyed the story. Something I'm interested in but never really knew anything about. Computers were never really used in my schools though so don't really have memories of that, but I did have (still do have) a Speccy at home.

I still have the destroyed remnants of my old Spectrum. It's literally falling apart but I'll never get rid of it.

My A1200 remains in my room, boxed under the bed. C64 in the loft still as well. Sadly the Dragon 32 and Atari 2600 have long since bit the dust.

I was going to watch this show after seeing a trailer for it but forgot. Another programme in this season of programmes that BBC4 are showing is this one called Electric Dreams. It's a show where a modern day family have to first live in a 70's house, then an 80's house and finally a 90's house. It's all the same house but suitably decorated and furnished with things from the decade in question. I watched the 70's house episode and it was fascinating seeing the family trying to cope with things such as a twin tub washing machine, a TV set with only three channels on it that keeps breaking down and a very early hi-fi system.
I was so looking forward to the 80's house episode but missed it (I'll have to watch it on BBC iplayer later on) but the 90's house is on tonight.

Nice shots of Caversham highstreet (north of Reading) where I used to live when the C5 pulls up. The video shop is also in the very nice village of Twyford just outside of Reading.
