I have been googling who is the highest box office grossing actor, and I thought I'd mention it here because taking into account any acting connection with any film it actually comes out as Frank Welker (and I don't think that's taking ROTF into account which will boost him up further). It is all a bit complicated as I'm never quite sure whether it counts voice acting but Samuel L. Jackson seems to be the winner for specifically acting in the films. I'm a bit suprised that he's so high, as his major hits are only Jurassic Park and the Star Wars prequels, but I think smaller figures for a lot of other films keep him up there. Being sctrictly the lead actor I think is Harrison Ford (4 Indiana Jones films, the Fugitive, not sure if it counts Star Wars), but I think people might be being a bit snobby here as Daniel Radcliffe will ultimately be the lead in 7 (I think, or is it 8?) Harry Potter films which will probably stand quite a long time. Also, anyone with Harry Potter and something else major on their cv (like Gary Oldman, The Dark Knight) is going to be up there.

Oh yeah, also it's gets confusing whether or not people are taking into account worldwide or just US, which can make a big difference sometimes.

Yeah, I saw that page (after I posted this). I'm not convinced about Tom Hanks at all, he's not in any of the top movies in terms of box office. And I get the impression that that list isn't taking any of the Lord of the Rings films into account.
edit - after closer inspection, it is taking LOTR into account, but North America only, which, especially in terms of Return of the King is about 35% of its box office.

I'd have expected Ian McKellen to do quite well, given that he had The Lord of the Rings trilogy _and_ the X-Men trilogy.
Edit: And Orlando Bloom of course had LOTR and Pirates. And he's just starting his career! If you factor in his age, he would probably expect to easily overtake all the oldies by the time he retires.

It's a bit of a curious list. Clint Eastwood down in number 40, Arnold Schwarzenegger in at number 45 and Sean Connery at number 50. I know films these days make a hell of a lot more than what they used to but still I would have thought that these actors would come higher up than people such as Orlando Bloom and Emma Watson (who has only appeared in the Harry Potter films).

I'm guessing Johnny Depp is also a strong candidate with the 3 POTC films (a 4th on the way with a 32million paypacket) and practically a secure job as the lead actor in almost every Tim Burton film the guy is certainly not short of work.
