Which is the better toy, Slag or Trypticon?

This is a no-brainer. Obviously Trypticon. He's big. He can walk. He turns into a battle fortress.
On this note.
Takara-Tomy MUST reissue Trypticon!

I had a Trypticon. I don't know what happened to it. Is it still on a shelf upstairs? Did I sell it? Is it in a box somewhere?
When I can loose a Transformers that big, it's time to worry.
Anyway I'm going with Slag. For me the Dinobots, maybe not Sludge or Snarl so much, are design classics. The looks in both modes can't be bettered. Even MP Grimlock doesnt look better than the original. All Hasbro could do to better them is update the articulation. Okay they could make them walk, but on balance Slag beats Trypticon except in the role a book end.

Technically I agree with Andy that the Dinobots can't be beat from a design angle. I particularly like how there are transluscent parts where mechanical components show through. It is also true that Trypticon has the "advantage" of not having a proper robot mode, since he turns from city to lumbering dinosaur, which makes life easier from a design perspective.
Nevertheless, looking at it only as a matter of Slag vs. Trypticon, I think Trypticon is just more fun. It's not just the ability to walk or the size, but also the fact that he's interactive. I love Transformers bases and Trypticon is one of the best.

Andy Relieved to find him still holding back the combination of oversized hardbacks and MP TF boxes. Pete I think you might be right on this, but Trypticon came to me as a $7 junker from the states ( I can't remember the deal, it was big, even with shipping it was one of the best bargains I ever got) just after a stopped playing with my transformers and also as it was a junker it had no parts so the base mode was never explored. If I had bought it a year or two earlier or it had been complete I might have voted differently. Still it makes a great Book End. Andy

Only a TRUE Transformers fan could do that. Maybe that should be how one characterises a TRUE Transformers fan?

If you'd said you were bringing your 4" Incredible Hulk I may have been concerned. In the meantime, Trypticon is ready for battle. He's already thrown Metroplex down the stairs!
