I've had Windmill sat in front of me for the past week and I still can't decide if I think the design was inspired by another G1 character or not. I find it odd that the other three characters would be so clearly based on Omega, Bruticus and Black Zarek and then the fourth member to be a brand new design, but then all other actionmaster waves did come roughly 50/50 between old and new characters. The first time I read about Windmill I think it was suggested it was loosely based on Metroplex which the more I look at it the more I can see it. There are lots of little designs that mirror Metroplexs shapes and the faces bears some resemblence to the cartoon model. But I got to thinking who else could it be. The elites already have 2 base robots to duke it out and Turbomaster is a combiner so maybe thats what Windmill was based on. And the head does have a bit of a Computron look about it with those big visored eyes. As the heads are the body parts that most match the originals on the other three it could be. So does anyone else have a theory? If you do claim one of the options 4 thru 10 as yours. Andy

I call it a new character. I had to draw him for a Mosiac awhile back, and nothing about him then made me think he was based on someone else. The odd little missmash thing did make me think that maybe he'd been hurt badly and put back together by people with not much in the way of appropriate spare parts, a la Autobot X.

I always assumed that he was based on Whirl. The shape of the arms is reminiscent of those on the Gazette and he's got a general suggestion of the stub-wings on the "squint and it is a helicopter" alt-mode.

Try as I might, I cannot see who Windmill might be aside from himself/an original character.
He could be anyone in a new body with a new name if you use your imagination. Even Scrounge!

Oh yeah I know that LOL.
I'm guessing he's just an original introduction like Jackpot, Mainframe, Banzaitron etc
