There's a bloke at work who insists on telling everybody stuff about his personal life that nobody wants to know and today he told us that two of his grandparents died aged 83 and 87!
Nobody was in the least bit interested but he thought we were!

whenever I saw that on stations I thought it was either a safe place to smoke or that people set on fire. I've learn't to crochet mittens no more cold hands I learnt today that crotchet and crochet are two different words. They ARE? I just thought it was a misspelling of 'crochet' that I always make. What does it mean?

No, a crotchet is a relative duration of musical note, depicted in a score in one of two ways: Crochet is a knitting thing. Croquet is a game played by hitting hedgehogs through hoops with flamingoes. (Or alternatively, if you can't source the flamingoes and hedgehogs, hitting balls with clubs.) Martin

It's only certain BFPOs, in active theatres such as Afghanistan. If you send a parcel to someone in a base in, say, Germany, then you have to pay. However, it is only the UK rate and not the normal international postal rates.

Today, I've learned that there are two Hi-Speed USB ports tucked away at the bottom of the back of my computer, though I've no idea what the difference is between those and the other USB ports. There is also a telephone port.

There's a policy statement that has recently been put up on the notice boards at work and one of the company's policies is as follows:
'The employer adopts an open attitude towards the activities of trade unions and their organisational activities.'
Strange considering that earlier this year the gaffers managed to kick out the union by means of lying about them to their staff just as a ballot was taking place. Unless of course this is what they mean by having an 'open attitude'.

Over the last week, I have learned an awful lot about my computer and how it works - things I could have done without needing to learn, really.

I have learned today that the simple task of finding a flat to rent is mindbogglingly more difficult than it used to be.

I learned this week that not only did the US Navy prove at one stage that a C-130 Hercules (a not inconsiderably large aircraft) can take off from an aircraft carrier (large for a ship but not exactly in the same size class as an actual runway attached to actual ground), but also that they proved it is possible to land one on a carrier - without the benefit of the arrestor hook which is normally used for recovering aircraft.
What I have not been able to learn is exactly which individual first had the slightly demented idea of trying it out to see if it could be done...

Today (actually 2 days ago was the genesis, since it has be confirmed), I discovered that Fleetwood Mac made some Freakin' good music.
But, is it "If I could, maybe I'd give you my world..." or "If I could, baby I'd give you my world..." ?

Fleetwood Mac had a lot of cracking songs.
I too learned the awesomeness of ROTF Devastator as he was given to me as a gift yesterday. I also learned that the combined mode of ROTF Prime and Jetfire DOSEN'T stink like I thought it would. Not terribly articulate, but very solid and just enough of a challenge without being frustrating.

I learn't that if you press a blue button on my laptop (I like pressing blue buttons) it switches the wireless adapter on and off, and that next time I shouldn't get so mad at my laptop, poor laptop.

I'm sure I've read the comic where it's revealed (Spotlight Ultra Magnus) before but I just learnt that Lord Zarak's first name is Mo. This is genius and hilarious.

I occasionally play a little game with Wikipedia where I go on a certain page then click a link to another page on that entry then click a link to another entry on that page and so on until you come to an entry that has absolutely nothing to do the original entry I went on. I recommend you try it sometime - its fun! I went on the Top Gear page yesterday and soon wound up on an entry about roadkill cuisine!

The Tex Avery cartoons have never really appealed to me even as a kid. I used to like the short Disney and Warner Bros. cartoons but I thought the Tex Avery ones were a just a little too silly. I never liked Droopy and I think Barney Bear was also one of their characters and I didn't like him either.
