Like James says you might be able to challenge that. If not to get your job back then at least to get a settlement from the tribunal especially if your boss and his boss got away scot free. I hope you get something soon and your now former employers are a right shower of bastards.

Zudo, that's a shite situation, and like the lads are suggesting, challenge the hell out of it.

Having some difficulty sourcing a flat to rent in Edinburger thus far. Looked into elsewhere and commuting in by train but the combined cost of flat plus railcard would work out roughly the same as a flat in the burger within walking distance of work. Urgh. Damn it. Will try for a years lease in Burger and hopefully a better option will present itself thereafter if I'm still working through there.
Still waiting on written confirmation of job. Getting a bit paranoid. Might give HR a call on Monday if nowt turns up tomorrow.*

*We're still getting post here, despite the strikes.

Yeah, accommodation in Edinburgh can be hard to get a hold of. (That is how I originally ended up living in a flat on Planet Falkirk a decade or so ago).
We had a colleagues fortieth birthday this week, so we went out to Pizza Hut for lunch this afternoon. I do like the buffet there - plenty of Pizza and salad allowing one to fully top off the tanks for a full afternoons work. I had a Pepsi with my lunch and then made the, arguable, mistake of having a cherry Coke over the course of the afternoon. It has been a while since I have had such a large caffine hit in one go. The end result was that whilst my colleagues were all flagging by half-past two I probably had more energy than I knew what to do with. Of course, how well I will sleep tonight is another question.
Actually, it was something we all could have done with. We have had a very stressful few months and I think it is telling on us, it was nice to have something positive to look forward to (other than the arrival of friday obviously).
And then I got home to find that not only had my next rental disc snuck through before the delivery folk take their turn in this weeks strikes, so I have some Doctor Who I have never seen on the to-watch pile, but a nice shiny copy of Hubris#11 was also awaiting me (Review when I have had a chance to assimilate the issue). So there were a few more positives to today than I was expecting.

As you passed Somerfield a chap in a black coat walked past you and shot you with a Laser Screwdriver on his way to an appointment, but you were busy chatting to a bloke. -Ralph

I was yakking away to Ali and Carina (trying not to breath in their smoke) and not paying attention to my sensors. I really do need to sharpen up the old situational awareness if you are going to be based back in Edinburgh. I may have to put in for a rush on a sensor upgrade..... Karl

"Image of the Fendahl" it is an "end of month" rental so I always figure that I have got my money's worth and can afford to start gambling a bit on the quality of what I bring to the top of the rental queue. I approach it with some trepidation , given the era of Tom's tenure from which it comes. Karl

I got an email yesterday from Edinburgh Napier University asking me to come for an interview for a lab assistant job. I am quietly optimistic and must now begin researching cellulose fibre extraction techniques.

I got Image of the Fendahl recently, and thought it was utterly amazing. Shockingly so in fact, given the lack of attention it usually gets.

Good luck from me as well Nick.
Also, thanks Ralph for all of those links. Some obviously are no good for me due to them being in Scotland but the others I will try. I've already tried Fish4jobs and Monster on the day I got the elbow but they came up with a blank.

At this rate all the Scots contingent will be working in Edinburger!
Rather frustrating week all round. The search for accomodation begins again next week. I shall try to recharge my batteries over the weekend because I have been getting very tense about it. When something that should be easy becomes difficult I can get disproportionately stressed.
I have, however, been e-mailed a copy of my job offer ahead of the hard copy in the post so now I finally see it in writing, I can put some paranoid fears to rest!
I did get to shoot Karl from behind today though, so that was a winner. My peripheral vision rocks.

Fortunate I was wearing my coat, which has excellent protective properties (it has to, I wear it in Falkirk where there is who knows what chemical horrors in the rain blowing in from Grangemouth....). I am fairly glad the week is over. For various reasons it has been a fiendishly stressful few days. I am quite looking forward to having a couple of days to potter around the house, work on my shed and perhaps experiment with an eggless chocolate cake recipe that I have obtained recently. Karl

And it actually turned into a slightly busier weekend than I had originally planned. I managed to get the second coat of Ronseal on my shed on Saturday as planned, so that should be that for that little job (and not a moment too soon considering how the rain torrented down today).
Today was taken up with some paperwork this morning, followed by disposing of a broken table. (Made twenty years ago by my father, so it has held up fairly well, but when a leg shatters and breaks away from the table and it topples to the floor then it probably is time for it to go). So one I had removed the chess sets, playing cards, scrabble and Monopoly sets which used to live in the table and moved them to a new home I had a moment of inspiration and ended up moving another bit of furniture across the room (necessitating moving everything else out of its path in turn) so that I could move it nearer the laptop and set up my scanner on it. The next step will be to set the scanner back up and get it functioning again.

Two weeks in to the house rewiring. Should have been finished on Thursaday but when it came to put the power on upstairs nothing happened. I'm exhausted as I've been the one person at home throughout so have been trying to keep on top of everything. Fingers crossed it will be done tomorrow.
Thankfully, the family got away for the weekend and my brother, Dad and I went to see Greenday in Manchester. Fantastic show, but ended up being even more tired after standing near the back/top of the stadium seating for the full show. I kept waiting for an avalanche of humanity sweeping me up and over the top tier barrier to the crowds below, or a health and safety person to try and seat 10,000 people. Oddly neither happened.
Saturday we visited one of my cousins that I haven't seen for almost 10 years beore returning to the chaos of home. I was able to sleep in a bed for the first time in two weeks as well this weekend so that was another plus.
