... but would never expect to see
To narrow it down - if we just say UK conventions.
JMS [Writer Amazing Spiderman /B5] was to be at Bristol comic expo but cancelled as can't travel on planes due to ear trouble.
You would expect Shatner to be all over you plugging how good he is - but he didn't show on JLC Startrek - but he got Spock on it - who'd you expect not to show.
But keeping it down on Transformers guests - we can say no Movie Galvatron showing up in the UK convention - if it was a Startrek one he would.
We could add Hasbro Transformers toy designers - would never expect to see them in the UK.

Never say never these days. I have to admit I was pretty surprised to hear AA will be getting Gary Chalk next year. Pity JMS couldn't make it over as I might just have made that trip, I'm a big B5 fan (I know, you'd never have guessed, right?! ) As for Transformers guests, I think it's high time Peter Cullen came over to this side of the pond. Yes, I know he's been at BotCon every time I've been there, but the UK convention always allow you to get near guests without insanely long queues. Frank Wekler and Corey Burton would be welcome too. Oh, and Megan Fox! - Tony

I would really really love Bob Budiansky. He's the father of Transformers, and only ever done one convention appearance that I know of.

Scatman of course. After hearing Gregg talk about him last year... this is wish fufullment right?
But, back in the real world... Michael Bell, Judd Nelson... some off the wall ones like that would be cool. Vince diCola, maybe. Not Stan Bush, he's been living off 'The Touch' long enough.

If you're talking about Scatman Crothers I don't ever expect to see him at a convention because he died in 1985.

Yeah, he knows that. That's why he said "Wish fulfillment, back in the real world."
EDIT
Okay, I had a think. I reckon it would be nice to see John Moschitta, Tara Strong (CH1X0R), "Wierd" Al Yankovic and maybe Charlie Adler would be cool and very very unexpected.

Weird Al would be a good choice for me also. I like some of his music and if he did turn up he could do a concert on the Saturday evening.

*thinks people might be dropping hints for me here for future conventions...!* Seriously though, Peter Cullen will never be a future guest at Auto Assembly purely because of costs... unless we decided to charge around £100 a head for admission for the weekend as we'd never be able to afford him otherwise. His costs we're pretty much in the region of the TOTAL budget for Auto Assembly 2009! Frank Welker won't be making an appearance any time soon either - he doesn't do conventions full stop. It's not because he doesn't appreciate fans but he is simply a VERY shy person and isn't comfortable around crowds and certainly wouldn't feel comfortable in a convention atmosphere where he would be the centre of attention. Gregg Berger has tried to persuade him to go to a few on numerous occasions offering to "hold his hand" while he was there, but not even that support would persuade him. Weird Al... probably just as expensive as Peter Cullen! Musically, he's pretty big Stateside so he could dictate a pretty high appearance fee!

Weird Al was at Botcon this year, Hub members Jaymz and Al met with him - I stayed in bed... He did a panel, and people kept trying to ask in depth questions about his motivation regarding his appearance in Animated, too which his standard reply was 'I read the script'.

Just think of Al & Wally together - seeing Wally showed that he liked doing music back in 2004

If anyone knows the names - then the Japanese voice actors. Totally would never expect to see them at UK convention. We spend time reading Takara collection not listening to the voice actors - mainly due to not understanding Japanese - but they do say bit in english - Overload.

Weird Al was an absoloute gentleman to meet, really cool about photo's at the Saturday night party at Paramount.
I second Blueshift's request for Uncle Bob, the man is a legend.

Man, I really don't mind who we get. You could bring back Gregg Berger, Ian Corlett or Dan Gilvezan and I'd still be bouncing off the walls. Actually, yeah, I wanna see Dan again, if for no other reason than the script reading.

Dan Gilvezan has said that he would love to come back.... in fact Auto Assembly and TFCon in Canada are conventions that he WILL go back to and I do know that he WON'T be making another appearance at BotCon again (although I don't know the reasons why!).
I know Bob Budiansky would be happy to fly over... we just never really talked about what sort of fee he would be looking at last time I mentioned it to him.

I know he doesn't rememeber much from the time, but the guy is pretty much the inventer of all Transformer fiction and characters

would anyone like Susan Blu or Venus Terzo ever be asked? I really doubt that Sue Blu could make it. Almost every cartoon I've seen since, like, Reboot or something has her credited as Voice Director. She's stupid busy, it seems. But, hey! That's the point of the thread, right? The unexpected guest!

What about the Stardub voice actors??? Oh to hear the narrator say "Soundwave is now new soundwave" in person.
