Last week, I read IDW's War Within Omnibus and noticed it ended without Prime and Megatron's return. After digging around, it seems "Dark Ages" was followed by an unfinished "Age of Wrath".
Even with Dreamwave's demise, why wouldn't IDW add the unfinished "Age of Wrath" with maybe an outline of what happens next? Was it ever revealed how "Age of Wrath" ended?

The reason being is that several of the creators involved in Age of Wrath were not paid for their work, and as it was done under work-for-hire contracts the ownership of said is work is murky at best.
It was never revealed how AoW ended, we know that the Quintessons figured in there somehow.

From the cover previews - #4 had Flash attacked by Sharkitcons & Optimus returned in #6. But if any strip #6 was draw is unknown - Simon had written it.

Simon had written issue 4, but had only outlined and plotted the remaining two.

Dreamwave were soliciting and offering cover previews of #5 and #6 before they'd been written?!

Dreamwave were soliciting and offering cover previews of #5 and #6 before they'd been written?!I don't think this is necessarily particulary out there. Seems like something lots of companies do. I hope we find out what would have happened one day, I totally realise IDW aren't going to publish even completed issues when they don't know who has been paid, but it does annoy me when creators seem to get a bit precious and won't say what would have happened in their stories. Usually using some kind of 'might resuse the ideas elsewhere some day' reasoning.

Lots of companies solicit issues before they've been drawn, but before they're written doesn't happen as often AFAIK.

A year or so ago, Furman did muse about making the plotline for the series available and asked for opinions on his blog. The response was positive, but was the last time he mentioned it. Perhaps he changed his mind, lost interest, decided to hold on to the ideas to use elsewhere or was told he legally couldn't. Who knows. It would be nice to know the full plot, but I wouldn't hold your breath.

I'd guess that if IDW printed all the issues that where up for order - that money [after printing costs & IDW editor costs] would all go to Hasbro & the creators woudl still not see any - even if Hasbro make all there money back & the issues where $4 each - they'll say its lost money from their company from 2004 & not making profit on the interest after 5 years. [if it works that way??] We want it done so Simon, Joe Ng, Guido, Don get paid.
