Damn. Well after a very mixed bag last week, I'm hoping this one proves to be an all good one. I've got a lot to get done, but hopefully I can manage it.

I finish work in 4 minutes! More Mario goodness awaits, and a dreary shopping trip to Asda.
Grumble.

Today was a day in which so much was slated to be done. Partly down to sod's law/stuff outwith my control, I can feel the day sliding away uselessly away from under me already. Sigh. At least there's the Hub.

Argh!
Must have eaten something dodgy on Saturday. Spent all day Sunday confined to bed. Went twice at one end and three times at the other end. Contents of going twice at the one end makes me suspect a problem with mushrooms.
Ate nothing for 36 hours, and appetite still not fully back.
Managed to go into work today, but knocked off at 3 pm.

Get well soon!
---
In other news, where the **** has my academic ability gone? Seriously, where the **** did it go? Got first big proper essay to do for Uni, did the reading last week, condensed it all down to 30 pages of quotes to jog the memory. Spent the last 2 hours staring at the blank screen of death. Haven't even got a title (though I did write my name).
I used to be able to do this kind of thing double quick without a sweat back in the day. What the hell happened? This is only the 3,500 word 'assignment 1 (of 5)' FFS!
I'm going to give this another half an hour and if still no joy, I'm going home. Another wasted day. The practical side is also not working out this week.
Stressful times at Burns Towers.

I managed to wrangle a transfer to another department in the factory where I work on Friday and today I started in this new department. Lets just say that I got more respect out of these fellow workers today than what I got out of my previous workmates in the two and a half years that I worked with them.

Sorry to hear that something you disagreed with ate you Martin. Hope you are feeling better now. Phil - I hope the little one is getting better too.
I seem to have had a rather mixed day to kick off the week. I got into work to find a number of folk are off sick, leaving us a little bit shorthanded today. Also, one of our staff is a temp who is leaving us on Friday - so there is a bit of scrambling around trying to get things tied up to ease his hand over to his permanent replacement. Then I came home to do a bit more work - I am in the middle of a bit of a major clean and tidy of the house, but it transpires that my sister is coming up for a visit the middle of this week. So rather than have the guddle still around when she comes up I am trying to get it all sorted and dealt with in a couple of days. I think I may be quite tired by the end of the week.
Ralph - sorry to hear that things aren't working out to well on the essay. I know what you mean about it being tough when you go back to academic work. I found much the same when I started doing my Diploma. I'm sure it will come together in due course. But channelling shall be provided if you wish.

Got stitches taken out from my back yesterday morning. Good. Headed down to London for afternoon of work to be told there was no work for me. On Friday told there was. Not good. Hadn't finished Fridays work so stayed to finish it. Good. Probably wont be paid for it and was told there is no work for me today either. Not good. Bad nights sleep. Not good. Got up this morning and the Hub started messing with my mind. Not good. Imax is private hire today so cant see Beuwolf there. Not good. Its raining. Not good. If nothing else should be able to go see Macbeth tonight . Good.
On balance not the best week so far.

Thanks! I sincerely wish the same to everyone else on the Hub who's got something wrong with them, or a poorly familiy member. As had nasty phlegmy taste in mouth all night and still no appetite this morning, I called in sick. They have a new system whereby we don't call the office any more, but rather a nurse go-between. Although it's been introduced partly to discourage shirkers who may not be inclined to bluff an expert, I'm now a believer, since the guy explained to me that because there was nothing in my stomach to digest, the bile is now rising to my throat, and I must eat what I can even if I don't feel like it, just to get it back where it belongs. So I've been munching cereal in small quantities all morning, and it seems to be doing the trick. And the Looney Tunes session I had planned for Sunday now takes place today instead. Martin

OK, OK, I think part of the problem was I had too many pages of notes. So I have cut them down from 30 to 5 and now, now I'm...I'm going to colour them in! Wheeeeeeee!

Our ordering system at uni is gubbed so I cannot order more methanol. If I cannot order more methanol I can't bring my extractive solutions up to the mark in order to separate them for solid residue quantification and purification before storing for later HPLCing. I spent today boiling my standard that I got from an American health food store and trying to find out if one of the random impurities that the label warns may or may not be in it is going to muck up my results.
Yay.

Possibly the most dangerous thing to do. Send something flammable via f**kwits.
