Yes, the whole getting rid of Gallifrey and the Time Lords and amnesia to avoid the backstory getting in the way of the stories didn't work out all that well in the end. It became too big a question and loomed too large over the books.
I do also think the Nation estate didn't help by the Dalek negotiations dickery, which resulted in Sometime Never.

Picked up Remembrance of the Daleks and Last of the Gadarene from Waterstones today.
Read Remembrance today, very good stuff. The trade dress for these books is fantastic.

I needed the Target Book to look something up and while flicking through it discovered that May 2nd was the 40th anniversary of the publication of the Target versions of Daleks, Crusaders and Zarbi!
A belated Happy birthday to an important part of my youth!

I recently listed to the audiobook of Daleks, which I am sure is popular with Thal fans called Thaleks! It really is still stirring stuff, better than a lass with a crusty muff!

I sighted 2013 reprints of Scream of the Shalka and the 8th Doctor Cornell one where the Brigadier goes GrimDark after his wife dies. I had no idea these reprints existed! Obviously scanned covers and thin interior paper. Felt fan produced but were being sold in a Real Bookshop and appeared to be properly licensed. How strange!

Impulse bought the trade of NEMESIS OF THE DALEKS. I don't usually bother buying the Panini DW trades as they are rather large and unwieldy to store and are often banged up to fook in bookshops* (usually a library borrow only) but I flicked through and saw it had the strips from The incredible Hulk Presents and was engulfed in sudden overwhelming nostalgia and red hazed. That was a great and sadly short lived comic.

*I would buy the lot in digital editions if they became available, however. Or smaller sized printed volumes.

Been tempted by Nemesis of the Daleks myself. One to consider after my rationalisation makes some space available.

Also got Romans and Space Museum soundtracks. The latter should deal with the problems I've had getting off to sleep recently.

Get thee to The Works! I had a pleasant surprise there on my lunch break.
The BBC Books set of 11 reprint novels in 50th anniversary dress had clearly just been put out as the piles were minty fresh. I had been after them but at £7.99 a pop had not got round to them yet. But wonder of wonders! They were only £1.99 each or 3 for £5. So the whole set was netted for £18.98. They will look splendid on my shelf.
For anyone hunting, the books are mixed in their piles so worth hunting through the full stacks.

I have managed to obtain eight of them - two were not locatable within the stacks, and the eleventh was something I already have in a nice hardcover format so I passed on it. But eight Doctor Who books for thirteen pounds is not to be sniffed at.
