They are the same. Only Pirate Planet and City of Death are abridged/rewritten for Target.

I'm intrigued by the rewritten part of those two. It's there any commentary anywhere that explains the differences?

I've been enjoying Revelation of the Daleks over the last few days. It's clunky in places and has a shocking amount of errors that should have been picked up in editing, but it doesn't change the fact it's a great story. Just you wait until you get to Resurrection, where Eric is often befuddled by such concepts as paragraphs and sentences. -Ralph

I was going to read that first, but then was suddenly taken with the idea of a trip to Necros. I wanted to see how he writes that 'levitating' bit at the end.
There is a surprising amount about nut roast in the first chapter.

Aside from the problems, I do like getting that childhood feeling again of reading 'extra bits that weren't on telly' that make Target novels so special. Not as in deleted scenes, but the extra narrative or alternate takes that fill out the story. Still gets me, that.

Those appear a lot in Revelation. Confused me; what's Saward up to? world building? I know The Visitation is his story, but I don't recall Terileptils being in Resurrection or Revelation.

It had been 25 years (!) since I first read The TV Movie novel and reading it again in the Target reprint it's ok for what it is. Started on 'Dalek'.
ALL Doctor Who telly stories must be Targetised. Even the rubbish ones. It is The Law. That's 7 of the 21st century ones done now.

I read Shearman's Dalek book. Not a bad book but not to my taste. Much of it is taken up with very unpleasant back stories for incidental characters doing horrendous things or having them done to them. Doctor and Rose mostly ciphers in their own book. It's well written and by no means bad but too nasty for my tastes.
Started The Crimson Horror. Fun so far.

I finished Revelation this morning. Rather lurches to a badly edited conclusion, but the 'extra bits not seen on TV' made it interesting from the point of view of seeing more into Saward's thinking, even if some of it was a bit weird.

Survival added.
Now down to 3x Troughton and 3x McCoy to complete all the classic series novelisations.

Sadly though Wheel and Evil go for over fifty quid a piece at the moment (I suspect there had been an increase due to the recent two DWMs bringing the books back to people's attention as they weren't going for that much in Jan) but I will pick off the McCoys as I see them.

Dipped my toe in The Target Storybook but the first two stories haven't really impressed. Being an anthology there may be some gems in here but I'm not sure I want to wade through 400 pages to find them. I may just spin on to the Terrance Dicks story, which is obviously the reason for buying this anyway.

Same.
My latest book acquisition is the BBC novel ‘The Time Travellers’ by Simon Guerrier, loved that one when I read it.

I haven't got back to that yet. The first two stories killed it for me.
I am SIX pages from the end of The Sensorites. Gripping political drama.

Now that I have finished The Sensorites, which will get a re-watch as a result, I have gone back to the Target Storybook because Ralph promised that it is good.
Uncle T's Second Doctor story is definitely worth the price of admission alone. On to see how Matthew Sweet handles doctor three.

I forgot I was going to read my recently acquired Trial Target books alongside watching the episodes, so I started Uncle Terrance's version of The Mysterious Planet this evening. It occurred to me that this is one of the architects of Gallifreyan society interpreting Robert Holmes' thinking about it. Interesting.
