I know I have this info somewhere, but I forget. From this month I'm switching to ordering bataches of comics online rather than give FPE my money due to their deplorable attitudes. What are good sites folk use? URL's would be handy!

As we've already mentioned a few times in other threads OneShallStand.com is a good place to get current TF comics and the odd few other IDW comics but if you're after non TF comics I would also recommend A Place in Space just like Andy.

I've brought quite a few books from Aprohead and the Book Depository on Amazon and have had no problems with them. I've never brought comic books from them though.

Used the Book Depository until they stopped shipping trades in card envelopes.
I have given A Place In Space a try.

Used the Book Depository until they stopped shipping trades in card envelopes. Don't think I've ever used them. I have used one or two storefront sellers in the past and had reasonable service from them. That said I have mostly been buying second-hand things that have been in fairly battered condition anyway so packaging wasn't much of an issue. As have I - my tiny order for this week is on its way to me. I shall see how it goes and if their service is good I shall be back in a week or so to hit them up for my monthly comics ration. Karl

Well I ordered on Monday and await my package! I assume it'll be 2nd class as it's free delivery.
I've ordered a comic they didn't have from Apocalypse Comics to see what their service is like.
I'll sort out a sub with Big Finish for the Whodios I want come payday and thus never have to darken the door of FPE again. Brick and mortar stores need to learn that if you rip the piss out of disabled customers right of front of other folk broswing, alternatives are available via the interweb.

I've got a package on the way from A place in space as well. Not expecting to see it till the weekend mind you. But if all goes well I shall be obtaining all my comics from alternative source and shan't need to enter FP again. Karl

I see A Place In Space now give you 15% off when you buy 5 or more comics, which works out as just short of the bus fare to go to the sorting office to pick up packages. I'll just wait until whenever there's 5 comics out I want. Result! And the comics are cheaper than FPE anyway and no cost for p and p.

A couple of days ago I ordered Tales of the Fallen #3 from Apocalypse Comics. I'm still waiting for it to be delivered but the price seems quite good. Its cheaper than a number of other retailers and the postage is free.

I generally assume free p and p means 2nd class postage and waiting a week, but that's fine for me as I can only get to the sorting office to pick up stuff too big for the letterbox about once a week anyway as it's a bit of a trek.

I have a parcel awaiting pickup at the post office at the moment. I suspect it is my parcel from A Place. I shall find out if I am right tomorrow morning. If it is then that is definitely second class post, which would work out fine for me.

Personally, I couldn't care less when a package comes as long as its not too late. Back in the days before I was hooked up to net I used to order stuff through mail order and send cheques away for payment. The packages didn't arrive until about a month after I had posted the order form because that was the norm for the 'please wait 28 days for delivery' method. These days all of my purchases are made via the net and they tend to arrive within three or four days but like I said, the length of time it arrives doesn't bother me because I'm used to slow deliveries.

Comics bagged and boarded (but with no comic destroying tape), placed in a nice paper bag which was placed between two bits of card which was snug in a bubble envelope. Couldn't ask for better packaging. They will now be my first port of call for single issue comics. -Ralph

I received my issue from Apocalypse Comics today and that was packaged in exactly the same way.

Their packaging was very impressive. My parcel too came neatly bagged and boarded, in a bubble-envelope, with three pieces of carboard to protect it.
What did amuse me was that the envelope had "Do not Bend" stamped on it in big letters, which almost felt like overkill. Presumably they know a lot of Postmen with preternatural strength.

I generally find Royal Mail ignores 'DO NOT BEND' notices. Hence why I always add extra packaging if I sending something that needs to stay flat.
Amusingly I got a 'you weren't in' card dated 7am this morning. Which was odd as I was in, and awake. Yet the card did not arrive until after I left for work. Ahhh, Royal Mail...

Indeed - I have found that they don't really understand the meaning of those words either. Mind you, I'd be amazed if they could find many postmen who could actually manage to bend things packaged by A Place in Space! I am currently sampling Apocalypse Comics as well - needed to give them a go to pick up X-Men Forever. If there service is decent I think I will have found my new primary comics suppliers Funnily enough there was an article in the Metro today about that. It appears that it happens quite a bit. I must admit I've never had that happen - I did however have a situation where they didn't bother to leave a card, and it was only because I knew that there was a parcel coming that I was able to go down to the sorting office and make a nuisance of myself until they gave it to me. Speaking of that, I have a parcel slip to collect from the post office. I hope the nasty customs men dont get me, that Thundercracker/Skywarp story where it doubled the price scared me!

I've had that many times when the postman can't be bothered to deliver something. British Gas and the Electricity Board also uses the same trick when they can't be bothered to do their job.

My test order comic from Apocalypse Comics arrived in sturdy packaging, so I have now found my to-go places for single issues comics. Great. I like a mix of reading some series in trades and some in periodical format* and look forward to next year when I will once again be able to keep up with comics due to being back in permanent employment! My amazon trades wish list doth be mighty indeed.

A couple of days I placed an Ebay order with Ace Comics and the two issues I had ordered arrived today in the same packaging. They had been placed between doubled-up corrugated cardboard and then sealed up with parcel tape. Although its not the traditional way of sending comics through the post it is quite an acceptable way and is virtually bend proof judging by how thick the cardboard is. The comics also came boarding inside comic book bags.
This is now another one of those comic retailers whom I may deal with again due to the speedy delivery and the very sturdy packaging.

I had my test order from Apocalypse Comics through last night when I got home. Once again it was very well packaged, so I think between them and A Place in Space I am all sorted out for online comics sources.
The convenience of getting comics delivered to the door is rather nice, I could get used to this. The only question now is what am I going to do with my Friday lunchtimes now I am not doing my comics run...
