This is the week when new members of the gym descend with the best of intentions for a few days before giving up quickly.
In the changing rooms this morning a group of blokes bandied the term "gymnophile" in reference to themselves.
Thanks to my (admittedly limited) knowledge of the Greek language, I enjoyed pointing out to them that a "gymnophile" is someone who has an abnormal obsession with the naked body rather than someone who likes going to the gym.
Ironically, I was wearing just a towel at the time. (Down, girls.)

So I'm coming up with ideas for some TFA storylines I have. Any time I come up with an idea, I do some research and find out that it has already been explored in TF Manga form.
Gah.

I got up early this morning to listen to Chris Evans' new breakfast show. Having dressed and eaten breakfast by 7.30, I decided it was far too early to start work so opened Masterpiece Skywarp and Animated Wreck-Gar.

I'll have to start listening to the radio again. There has been so much hype about all of this Chris Evans replacing Terry Wogan thing that it has got me interested. I haven't listened to the radio properly since I was a kid.

I have Radio 2 on all day while I'm working. I never really listened to Sir Terry, I'd just catch the last half hour or so. I'll miss Chris at drive time. I'll be listening to the radio in the mornings come March when the digital switchover takes place - I'm not bothering to get a Freeview box for my bedroom because I don't watch much telly in there beyond BBC Breakfast. I use it more for videos and DVDs.

Those of you who have seen me know I am a skinny rake and so since last March, I have been going to the university gym with the intention of bulking up. This is my second week back since Christmas and I have to say that my body felt rusty during the first week. At the moment I'm lifting 150lb on the biceps pull machine and 110lb on the triceps push machine.

So I'm coming up with ideas for some TFA storylines I have. Any time I come up with an idea, I do some research and find out that it has already been explored in TF Manga form. Transformers would never have run to its 25th year if its official creators had your scruples about originality of storylines, Gav. Re: gymnasia I've never seen the point of gyms. As far as efficiency goes, I would class them along with patio heaters and burying recyclable material in landfill sites. If you're going to expend energy, use it productively, I say. Walk/cycle/run to places you want to go, rather than on a treadmill. Lift heavy shopping or bricks rather than weights. Bend down to pick up litter rather than to touch your toes. Dig an allotment rather than doing back exercises. Apart from the unproductive energy expended, they strike me as being very expensive for what you get out of them. I mean, you can do all those exercises outside the gym for free (or the cost of a bike, or some full shopping bags on either end of a broomstick). I suppose it would be worth it if your exercise of choice is swimming, 'cos you can't exactly do it in the bath. But apart from that... no. Martin

I have grown a spare tire over the last month and trousers are getting tight. I put this down to less waling due to weather and also being in a mostly sedentary job compared with the Daily Unemployed Many Mile Walks of previous months. Not put on much but more flabby than I'd like. I have noticed that I have rather less fibre in my diet than previously so time to sort that out.

I'm not one for Gym's myself. My fitness is pretty much where I need it to be in day to day terms most of the time, with the occassional bobble in the deepest depths of winter when the rain normally means I can't get out anywhere to walk. In terms of keeping myself in trim I would rather get out my bicycle and head up the canal at a good pace than tromp down to the gym, which would cost me money.
A busy day at work today resulted in me getting down to the station to start my journey home at 6pm. Unfortunately all the trains are either canelled, or half the length that they should be (and therefore next to impossible to get onto) because apparently the rolling stock now needs to be repaired because of the severe weather..... So in the end it took an hour and a half to get home. I am glad that I have started making myself a flask of coffee before I leave the office - it comes in handy when you are standing around on drafty stations for long periods...

I'm pretty sure that's the initiation for a fanboy's first Auto Assembly. Only ten of them. In a row. On fire.

Yet another CGI advert for a game that probably has bugger all to do with the actual game when it is released. I notice that the game is by Activision and they haven't been known to make games that good. Their days as a worthy game developer were in the 80's.

$89
which estimates at like £55, which gives me 6 issues of the tfcc magazine, that free toy, cheaper exclusive toys and if I want it discounts to Botcon
I see it as like a pound a week, so I'm willing to do that :3

you dont pay for shipping on the free toy or the magazines (guess that means they're inclusive) but you would have to pay for the postage on further figures you buy (not sure how much yet as havent tried any yet)

Been for two runs this week so far, and another two before the weekend. After a sluggish start to the year I think things are picking up now.

After getting no reply as yet from the job agency I had faith in about a fortnight ago I decided yesterday to send off a letter to a local company that, according to a story in the local paper is expanding its business in the area. I simply asked them if they have any vacancies and I hope that I will get some kind of reply back from them.

Just received a phone call from one of those survey firms who won't take no for an answer. They phoned me up and started by asking for somebody with a surname that was similar to my own but not quite (obviously they had been handed my name and phone number by a company over the phone and they had written the surname down wrong their end). They then quickly fired off their first question by asking if I had a mortgage. It was none of their business so I told them that I wasn't interested in these surveys to which they asked me why. I told them again that I wasn't interested and didn't need to give a reason but they still asked why I wasn't interested at which point I hung up.
