A sleepless night and the onset of lurgy leave me feeling like death at the start of week 5. I would phone in sick but I've too much on today.

Left work early due to pounding head and general feeling of death. Have been lying on couch trying in vain to get some kip. Will try again after lunch. Hate being off sick, I'd rather be working. Hopefully I should be ok tomorrow.

They are Woolworth's 'remakes' of Machine Robot Rescue so they aren't as sturdy as the real thing, but still pretty nifty!

Had to go up to the dole office today for one of those 'you've been signing on now for 13 weeks you bag of scum and we want to know why' interviews but before I did so I decided to nip into my local shop. First I got some money out and was waiting for an age in a queue at the cashpoint, then I went into the shop and waited in a queue there while somebody used the supposedly fast but actually a lot slower than paying by cash method of paying by card and then I caught the bus. I got on the bus and the driver couldn't be bothered to drive off for about five minutes and when he did so he found himself in amongst the dinnertime traffic.
All in all a good day then!

Gah. Glad I went home. Deteroriating through the day. I hate lurgy. It's rubbish.

I was tempted to get another new mouse for my PC while I was in town today but I decided against it due to my current one seemingly working perfectly before I set off. Curiously soon after I got back however it went back to its old ways and threw in a few new problems with it such as clicking on things on the screen without me even touching the mouse. I'm back in town on Wednesday anyway so I'll definitely get another one then.

I had a rather unpleasant suprise this evening as the fraud folk at my bank called to verify some recent purchases. Someone has been naughty and intercepted a recent online purchase, grabbed my details and spent nearly £600 this evening. So my card has been cancelled and now I hope no more money is stolen from me in the near future. Fair gave me a fright. I'm building up my finances again after the last couple of years and can ill afford money being stolen from my account. Naturally, I won't be buying online again anytime soon.
Out of sheer paranoia, I phoned up my bank after the fraud call to make sure that call itself had been genuine!
**** me!

I woke up this morning at 4am and shambled downstairs for some pain-killers. I was aware I had irritated my back at some point yesterday, but I didn't realise how badly.
I tried to get up a few hours later and go into work, but that was not perhaps as successful as it might have been. Instead I shambled Igor-like back to the house and spent the rest of the morning back in my bed having taken more painkillers. I managed to get up in the afternoon (it was too painful to lie down and I figured that I may as well be sitting upright in warm clothes than in my pyjamas) but have spent most of the afternoon propped up on the sofa with book as I wasn't mobile enough to do anything else. I am starting to regain my mobility this evening, hopefully this trend will continue over the course of the night and I will be able to get back into the office tomorrow.

Head was thumping through the night so annoyingly had to phone in sick again as I knew I would be useless at work. Balls. A thrilling day of roaming between the couch and bed await.
And hopefully no more money will be stolen today from my bank account.

Did you manage to get the money back that was stolen because £600 is an awful amount to lose.
I've decided to get a new mouse tomorrow. I've harped on a few times recently about how my original mouse with my computer and then the new mouse I brought six days ago don't work properly (both have different problems with them) and a new one is a must. The new mouse I've currently got is is working about as well as a block of concrete attached to a piece of string and plugged into my computer this morning and its making navigation around websites a nightmare. But then, I expected nothing less from a mouse that only cost me £2.50.

This morning didn't start off too well. I was still in sufficient pain that pretty much all I was capable of was lying in bed watching the brief flurry of snow for the first couple of hours of the day. I got a bit of reading done after that, and by lunchtime managed to totter downstairs and reensconse myself on the sofa.
Fortunately I am feeling great deal better this evening, so hopefully I am at least somewhat on the mend now.

It looks like my mouse problems are now over. I brought a new mouse today and its working flawlessly. It does everything I want it to do (which isn't much considering that its only a mouse) and there are no problems at the moment so no more ranting on here about the situation.

I woke up still feeling somewhat pained this morning, but far better than I have done for the last couple of days. I have made it in to work - albeit that it took longer to reach the train station than it would normally have done, as I currently have a gait slightly akin to a duck as there are things I can't quite do with my back as yet. It is good to be able to stand fully upright again though, and to walk with more stiffness in the back than pain rather than the reverse.
The scenery outside the train looked fantastic this morning. Everything is covered by a light dusting of yesterday's snowfall and looks pristine and wonderfully attractive. Long may the white dusting remain.

Went to work. Felt like shit. Luckily, I had an unusually light day. Back to normal workload tomorrow so I hope to feel better or it will be a long day.
I seem to have infected M via out shared mind-link, going by his texts. Ho ho.

So the Bosses were down last week and spent several days installing newer computers and more microscopes and then breaking the piss out of my main scope which I then spent most of Monday correcting. I have no bench space left in this pissy little lab, but the Boss just noted that he'll be signing a new lease for a new space on the 15th of this month and we then start moving in April when the weather is less shit.
The next two months are going to feel interminable in this craphole, but I shall have to keep looking forward to the new spacious crap-free digs.
