I got an email today confirming that I can start work at a warehouse nearby tomorrow. The first day is however the induction where I have to meet up with the agency who provided the job and I have give references etc. to them and also pass a health and safety test. If all goes well I will be able to stay there until finishing time tomorrow and also the rest of the week. If however it doesn't work out I'll most likely be back home within a couple of hours!

Best of luck, Zudo!
And huzzzzagh to Spring! Can't come soon enough! I love the snow (provided I don't have to go anywhere), but the rest of winter is dull dull dull. Spring is the time of Love!

I spent my weekend sorting out what I wanted to sell. I've now got 2 crates of stuff still to list, and one crate of stuff I want to keep. Unfortunately my room is still chocka full of stuff on all my shelves, so I might have to whittle that down more. I'm sick of having boxes everywhere! That Sky Lynx I bought at AA is still living on the floor!

I need new furniture, the back of my wardrobe has fallen off, now it is just a rectangle of wood, standing up by magic. But my landlord is one of my friends and I always feel bad about asking him for stuff. Like a doorhandle

Good luck with the job thingo, zudo!
I am a sad dinogrrl today as my Tardis USB hub has died. The little light on top still comes on and it still makes the Tardis landing noise, but it won't USB anything. So I guess I'll just have to make it a desk ornament. Boo.

Cheers for all of the goodwill messages. I'll be going in about an hours time and hopefully things will turn out all right. Even if it doesn't I was thrown a lifeline yesterday. One of my mates told me that if this new job doesn't work out I can always go and work initially on a two day trial for the place he is currently working at. The only only problem I have is that the weather looks a little frosty and the only mode of transport I can use to get up to this place is my trusty bicycle.

Good luck Zudo!
I've got family coming over today and holidays to sort out. Busy busy. Good thing I'm not at work much right now- although it would be nice to have some cash coming in so I can actually buy things once I get off the plane...

I've recently returned from my first day at this new job and it didn't go too badly at all. The agency who gave me the job said I won't be needed in the workplace tomorrow but I will be on Thursday. This is actually quite convenient for me because my dole office signing on day is tomorrow so I can nip up there at my normal signing on time and sort everything out then with the dole office.
The job consists of largely packing foodstuffs into boxes ready for distribution to shops and the like and the only injury I suffered there today was a sore wrist (which I believe is better known as a 'bachelor's wrist!') due to making up a large number of boxes from flat-pack ready to put all of the things inside.

Glad it went well.
In other news, I now have control of my finances again after the run on it last week. Many thanks to the RBS Customer Fraud Team! And Random Thieving Bastard should hope never, ever, to meet me.

Good to hear that it went ok Zudobug.
I am having not too bad a week so far. I am making some headway with what I wanted to get done at work this week. Even if it does mean putting in a few more hours than I ideally would like. But them's the breaks.
I have an "outing" to look forward to on Thursday - off to Glasgow all day for a training course, so I get to head in the oppositey direction to that I would normally head in. They do say a change is as good as a rest after all.

Going up to the dole office this morning to see them about my new situation. I did read somewhere in the dole office recently that they offer something called a 'work trial' or whatever its called which allows a person to work and still claim dole money for three weeks as a kind of security if the job doesn't work out during that time. I think I might enquire about that while I'm up there.

Had a pleasant couple of days so far on my week off. Got more than half way through reading Doctor Zhivago, had a walk in the nature reserve, did a bit of local shopping. Another day mainly reading today and tomorrow, try to finish the book.
On Friday, although on leave I shall probably go into the office for my Welsh lesson, then go to the cinema to see Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief, to see how well it treats the Greek gods. Never seen them done justice on screen before - TV always makes them camp, while Troy denied their existence altogether, but as a big budget special effects movie this may be different. Hope springs eternal!

Well I'm still bloody sick! GP reckons I picked up a bacterial chest infection whilst down with the virus. Good news is, GP reckons there was a good chance the virus was Flu! And maybe even SWINE FLU!!! How exciting is that?! So, Shockprowl has gone from Hero to Zero where space lurgy is concerned. Off work another week (slightly inapropriate to treat patients whilst hacking up entertainingly coloured gunge, me thinks). Darn inconvinient.
Tell you sumat elese though, all the nice toys and stuff Piglet has, give her a sick and pile of mud, and she's happy as Larry. And we all know how happy Larry is. When we go out for our walks, she HAS to carry a sick, which has to be the correct configuration naturally. Then, any pile of mud, mole hill or otherwise, has to be investigated with the stick, and not a little amount of digging with the stick goes on as well. It's the Cardboard Box at Christmas syndrome is what it is.
Also, apparently they are going to finally cast who will play Captain America in the forthcomming film. I like a bit of Cap', so I'm quite anxious to learn who will be playing him.

Back at home today due to a mix-up with the job agency. They told me on Tuesday that I wouldn't be needed on Wednesday due to lack of work but I would be needed on Thursday. I came in today only to be told that I wouldn't be needed today but I would probably be needed tomorrow. Not very good job satisfaction but its what I've come to expect from job agencies.

Pretty steep learning curve week at work. Plenty of cock-ups or things that just didn't go right. Feel like I've spent a lot of time apologising for things. Very much looking forward to the weekend so I can chill out and let the new learning perculate my brain.

I've had a good day on my training course to do. Quite interesting and illuminating actually - and I got a nice lunch into the bargain.
I even had time for a brief wander around town once we had finished before catching an earlyish train home. I was actually back at home by 5.15pm which is remarkably early compared to my recent average.
I am however finding that the fatigue is catching up with me this end of the week. I have one or two things that I need to get sorted out at the weekend as well, but hopefully I will be able to make some time to unwind as well.
Zudobug - agency work can be a bit random like that. I remember my first agency job started out as three days one week but then became random days in subsequent weeks. a little bit unsettling, but at the time random work was distinctly better than no work.

I have today and next week off work (in the enforced 'you must take all your outstanding leave before the end of March' way (14 days!)). I have a comic to write, and 2 pages to colour!
Tomorrow I am popping down to a comic convention in Exeter!

Hopefully made a breakthrough in my PhD today after months of stress and looking like it was all over. Need to flesh it out a bit more and kick it around with my supervisor (the good one, not the one I don't see) to be sure, but I'm much more positive about it than I was.

I have today and next week off work (in the enforced 'you must take all your outstanding leave before the end of March' way (14 days!)). Same as me, except I'm allowed to carry five days over, which I always do. Don't know why. Anyway, I had this week off and I also have one week in March. Today I went into the office, but only for my weekly Welsh lesson. I figure that if my employers are paying for me to have lessons on work time (where most people would have to pay for the lessons and do it in their own time), the least I can do to show that I appreciate them is to attend the lessons when I'm on leave and still in Cardiff. After that I went to see 'Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief'. Martin
