I'm updating my repaints article and want to include a list of the ten worst repaints ever. I've got six so far .... help me out and suggest some others please.

Universe Silverbolt is ugly, but I can see what they were trying to do (make him look like Beast Machines Silverbolt). To me, even 'bad' repaints have value if they look crazy or interesting. I'd have to nominate figures where the repaint just kills all interest in the figure or is pretty boring. Namely stuff like all the Mudflap recolours that look exactly the same! Or Universe Prowl with his GIANT Autobot logo. Also Universe Ratchet with his BIZZARE tampo'd ladder and hosepipe! I mean, really? Desert Cameo Ruination is also on my list, because it looks more like Fleshy Tentacle Ruination.

Botcon Landshark is pretty bad. Just so dull. Andy Oh man, seconded! Especially in a set full of bright guys. Did we really need another muted green tanklike vehicle? As much as I like new characters, Landshark just looks so generic.

Any toy made out of that gold plastic - but that was only limited to guns, arms or torsos. Not an whole figure made from it.

Pretender Roadblock's robot mode was pretty close to being entirely gold plastic! Repaint wise, I guess Slingshot is the worst culprit. A toy that shears in half the moment you glance at it. Though it does LOOK nice, and at the end of the day, these things weren't meant to last 20+ years.

Henkei Strafe! I know some people like it, but damn, he hurts my eyes... I have one on order! I like him precisely because he is so mad. The colour scheme may be baffling, but it makes me want to buy him, so is (in my eyes) a good repaint. I believe the idea of a repaint is to make you think 'yes, I want to buy this figure again!'. Bad ones leave me blase. That is why Universe Leo Prime is amazing. It is a lion painted to look like a lorry, the ultimate expression of G1ism. God bless you Hasbro.

That's because Action Master Thundercracker is AWESOME and to criticize him on this board is to invite a severe beating with a wet kipper!

While looking elsewhere I notice we didn't think much of Recon Barricade but I don't think it's even in the same league as those mentioned above

Possibly Sunstorm? My vote goes to Energon's Treadbolt. Not because of the colour scheme, which is actually quite reasonable, but because it's a repaint of a poor mould that came ridiculously quickly after the original and epitomises all that's wrong about slapping a new colour scheme on to make a new character.

Treadbolt's not too silly, after all you do get yellow construction vehicles. But as I've said elsewhere it needs to be the right sort of yellow, and Treadbolt is a near miss. Don't forget he was a limited edition toy overseas, we were the only people that had a glut of them. And at the same time as our glut of Scavenger was still on the shelf. (and I like the Scavenger mould)
Sunstorm is bright and nasty, and I'm tempted to nominate him. But we know why he exists.
