I know i've talked about this game in another thread - but no thread just for this game disc.
Demo / 1 / 2 / 3 OOT / 4 MM
I've completed 4, 3
Doing 1 at the moment - in 3rd dungeon but running out of bombs to kill those nights & the blue insect boss.
Not keen on 2 -with easy to get lost & then traying to find where you last where & going from the start all the way back there.

Base - end up on the island
Island - sail to east & get part way up mountain - to point where you first see the windy side
Dungeon - get outside

Demo / 1 / 2 / 3 OOT / 4 MM I am intrigued by this strange code. What does it mean? Is OOT Ocarina Of Time? What's MM? -Nick

OOT is indeed Ocarina of Time while MM is Majora's Mask - the slightly strange sequel to OOT. I recently purchased the NTSC 'Collectors Edition' copies of both N64 games off Ebay mainly because I'm a Zelda fanatic.
I've actually played every game on my Collectors Disc which I picked up several years ago and it was through this disc that I first played both NES Zelda games. As I recall, I got up to the final dungeon in the first game but never completed the game and as for the second one I gave up on it halfway through because I just couldn't get the hang of Zelda in a platform game style.
On a side note, the retrospective movie on the disc is quite nice although far too short for my liking.

That Movie is short. But i'm planning on getting those other 2 Gamecube games. I just typed up the games in order from selecting them from the title screen.
I'm playing the first game & also drawing a map - but i have come across something - when completeing the 3rd dungeon & heading back out to get the power bracelet. You do end up on the same grid square [if you draw the map as a 16 * 8 grid]. unless i missed a square out when going into the grave yard.
But i really can't get into that 2nd game at all - not like with the 1st & 3rd/4th games which make you feel like you have actual done something.

I completed the 1st Zelda on that disc and had an attempt at Links Adventure but didn't get beyond the second palace. To this day Zelda II is the only one in the series I haven't completed (well except Spirit Tracks but I'll be playing that shortly). I mean to go back and finish it but I don't really like it!

I liked Spirit Tracks. It took a bit of time to get used to, and I didn't like the linearity of the travel mechanism that much, but really, its the same as a boat on water where there are no islands!

There was an issue of NOM magazine that printed the full map from Zelda 1 when the game was re-released on the GBA a few years ago. I've still got all of my copies of the magazine and I'll see if I can find the relevant issue and scan the map.

The grid being out of alignment is clear to anybody whose ever played the game and I think it was actually picked up in the letters page in a later issue. The map also doesn't account for the graveyard puzzle where you have to make specific moves in order to reach the other side. The map just shows the graveyard in its completed form.

I'll have to start playing the first Zelda game again. It's been a long while since I last played it but all of this talk about it has got me intrigued again.
