An eighties film that unlike many of its contemporaries has pretty much faded into obscurity. I was thinking the other day that I hadn't seen it for years and years so was quite excited to find that it's on Comedy Central this Sunday. I'm looking forward to seeing it again.

I can't remember if I ever saw Teen Wolf Too. I remember it being out. I saw a picture of the leads* earlier and they looked a little familiar so perhaps I saw it once.
Remake, eh? That doesn't surprise me with all the vampires around at the moment. The studios must be looking for werewolves to exploit.
*I mean lead actors, not leashes.

I saw the first film many, many years ago when I was briefly a fan of Michael J Fox due to his appearances in the Back to the Future films. At the time I was trying to find several of his films and TV series to watch from Doc Hollywood to Spin City but none of them really interested me. I watched a bit of the Teen Wolf film last night (or the night before I can't remember) but it didn't really inspire me to watch all of it. As for the sequel that was terrible if I recall. I watched some of the sequel a short while after I originally watched the first film but remember thinking that it was dire. The cartoon series I've never seen.

Some interesting things on Wikipedia about how the film tried to cash in on Back To The Future (although filmed before B2TF, it was released just after). "For its Italian release, Fox's character name was even changed from Scott to Marty in order to capitalize on the success of the Universal film. In Brazil, the film was released with the title O Garoto do Futuro, which roughly translates to The Boy from the Future, in another move to associate the film with the success of Back to the Future."

I've got Fox's autobiography. I suspect I may get around to reading it sooner rather than later after watching Teen Wolf this weekend.

It hasn't aged well. It's full of cliches (I wonder if they had yet become cliches in 1985) and the make up doesn't exactly come up to today's standards, though impressive for its time. I really enjoyed watching it, though, even if it was mainly cheesy retro appreciation.
Adding to the retro fun was somebody in a Police Academy T-shirt in one scene.

Parts of the film were actually quite good but some of the gags just go too overboard and ruins the film.

I was surprised today to hear that a new Teen Wolf TV series has been made. The trailer was released over the last few days. I wasn't impressed with it.

Yep. An MTV show if I'm not mistaken. That channel is pretty much a shell of its former self.
At least the female version with Tom Welling as 'Booth' was shelved.
I really liked the first and original Teen Wolf but disliked the sequel.
"In The End" by Mark Stefan is in my mp3 playlist.
