You finally rid yourself of the irredeemable pap that was Inhumanoids, and you have now bought it AGAIN? I see from the week 9 thread that Merrifield was involved in your decision. He too shall be punished.

Those pair seem to work together like the Chuckle Brothers or Keith Harris & Orville!

After a super busy day at work yesterday followed by a 2 hour driving lesson, I pretty much passed out the moment I got home.
However I am super chilled at work today!
Also, I have only seen the original Inhumanoids miniseries, is the rest of the series worth it?

Got the fateful phone call. Working tomorrow to cover for a bloke whose wee girl is not well. Same as Monday and this morning. Not complaining about the cash but I could do with a lie in sometime.

Of course, in this current financial climate, it is good to be wanted by your company!

I spent most of this morning wandering around the house because an electrician was there fitting a new fuse box system and so the power had been switched off. Without TV, lights and, dare I say it, the internet I was lost and couldn't think of anything to do other than drink several cups of tea.
Anyway, tomorrow I'm back at work for my sixth day of work in five weeks! I'm already looking at other jobs because I want a full time one that guarantees me a decent regular income without having to muck around with the dole office every week.

Cycling back from work today I came upon two things that caught my attention. One was an interesting one while the other a sad one. The interesting one was that I passed Bumblebee on the road - or rather an old style VW bug in Bumblebee yellow. The sad thing however was that I also passed a cat that seemed to heave its last breath as I passed. It was lying in the middle of the road - an obvious victim of an incident with a car - and as I passed it the poor creature lifted its head as if to look at me before lying its head back down on the road. I looked back and I never saw it move again so presumably it had just finished the last of its nine lives.

Work has been a bit odd for the last few weeks. Firstly, it's apparent that they've taken on too many new staff, as there is now a situation where we're all fighting for scraps in an attempt to validate our continued employment. We've also had to deal with the unexpected death of a former colleague (aged 19) so things are a bit odd at the moment.
Life otherwise continues to be not too bad. I'm attempting to save money and slowly working my way through the Monty Python and Hammer Horror box sets.

Well, my furnace is still operating, after dying on me the previous evening. Landlord came and literally looked at it and it came back to life, the bastard. It'll die again soon enough though. That I am sure of.
Work is dribbling back down the hole of suck, although I am attempting to resist the pull this time.
Is it Friday yet?

Yesterday at work one worker played the good old practical joke of super gluing a 50p piece onto the warehouse floor and waiting to see if somebody tried to pick it up and today somebody did attempt it! Today was a slightly amusing day that was ruined by the trip home when, upon cycling down a road leading into my home village I was caught in a blast of the familiar smell of a local farm being cleaned out.

Another day at work today and the cycle back home was once again a painful one as I entered my home village and the smell of silage wafted through the air. Fortunately though it didn't last as before long the smell was vanquished by the wonderful smell of freshly cooked fish and chips coming from a nearby chip shop.

Just back from using up my required end-of-financial-year leave quota on a sequel to my 2007 train trip to France. I have eaten very well indeed this week (though I may need to go veggie for a week now to salve my conscience re: animal welfare). And I have walked more in this one week than I have since... the last time, probably. Paris, the city where they still have UGC cinemas and C&A clothes stores, where the traffic signals work on a strange logic and drivers ignore them anyway, and where the drains pong. And yet also a city where I can go to give speaking the English language a break for a week, where the food and drink are amazing, and where everyone is much more courteous in speech than they are in the UK. All in all, a good week. On Tuesday I took a short hop on the regional train (double-decker trains - genius!) out to Versailles to see the chateau and gardens of the old French monarchy. The chateau interior, I can take or leave. All paintings and stuff. Seen one room, seen 'em all. But the _gardens_... Because part of the garden is sloping and part is flat, and it has a very definite kink in it, it looks for all the world like a big garden with a feeble attempt to make it look bigger by putting a painted backdrop on it, with a picture of an extended garden that makes it three times the size. But it ain't a backdrop. The garden really is that big. And that's just the main bit. The bits off to the side are labyrinthine, and more worthy of having a Jim Henson creature around each corner than Japanese tourists. Fortunately, most of the latter stuck to the indoors stuff as it was freezing cold. I walked all the way to the end of the garden and back. Took over an hour to do this. Was highly amused to find the end part, devoid of human beings, had mole-hills. You can try to control nature by building the most spectacular garden in the world... but nature will always add its own little rebellious touches. Anyway, home now. What's on the telly tonight? Looks and sounds like you had an excellent holiday there Martin.
I went into work today because yesterday the supervisor and manager of my department went around and asked if anybody wanted to work at the weekend to get this particular job finished. Normally don't do weekends and at my last place I couldn't stand to work there Monday to friday let alone the weekend but my new workplace is different. Both the workers and the management treat everybody else like genuine human beings and not like the scum that we were treated as at my old workplace. The work is also more enjoyable - the only problem with the work is that, because its a packing area, paper cuts are the norm. The main reason why I worked today though was because I needed the money and a full shift on a Saturday should generate enough money to keep me going for at least the short term.

I'm well and truly convinced that my local jobcentre is staffed by village idiots. Not only are they not normally paying me until Sunday but today they haven't paid me at all. I sign on on a Wednesday and they used to reliably send out a giro to arrive on Friday but they have since scrapped that method for a wholly unreliable method where the money doesn't arrive when I need it.

I had to use up my holidays this week and last too. I got to stay at home, that wouldn't have been a bad thing except the parents chose that period to completely refit the bathroom. So the house has once again become slightly unusable which meant my plan to paint Blueshifts AMTC went down the drain, as did my Thunderclash and any major advances with Impactor.
We do now have a very nice bathroom, though now lacking a bath.
After that work I tried to get back to painting only to find both airbrushs had disappeared. So frustating.
I also spoke to a friend on facebook from my old job in London. In the two years since we worked together hes gone on to be made head of paint and roto for the company he now works for for the film hes working on. 2 years ago I wasn't up to his level, he was better, had more experience and more training, but we were doing the same job quite often the same shots then and now hes really moving forward and I've spent most of the last 2 years either on sick or mainly unemployeed. I think its given me the kick up the back side I needed. I need to spend at least 3 months training, maybe 6 but realised I do have the experience that should get me more work once I've done the training.
So now I'm really excited about the online course I'll be doing from April and hopefully by July when I come back from holiday I'll be in a position to properly look for work.
Andy
