This is the first TF Animated yet I haven't really enjoyed. Is it the second last one? Or are there two more?
I dunno, I just expected more. Shockwave was great though.

I watched this one on a whim. Watchable, but it's such a shame the show gave up on being aimed at under 10's and positioned itself at fans in 20's/30's. It's buried under so many references to old shows it beggers belief.

Having cameos in an audience doesn't mean it is suddenly indescipherably to new viewers. Remember everything was new once.

I have to say, that after seeing the episode: I really love that mix of new and old material. It's great to see a show which bridges the gap between what entertains kids and what adult fans can appreciate.

I think what I regret is that Animated somewhat backed away from its original intention of having the Decepticons being less present in the show, but more threatening when they did appear.
I quite liked the idea of the Autobots mostly dealing with human costumed criminals and then every so often having to really pull together as a team to defeat a single Decepticon by the skin of their teeth. That idea, that they talked a bit about in the pre-release publicity quite interested me. Sadly it didn't really see to be working out quite that way in practice.

It lasted long enough, but I think there was always the aim to expand the focus of the show. They couldn't keep the Decepticons hovering on the fringes for too long. Dramatically it wouldn't have worked and the endless stream of gimmicked humans of the week would have grown stale I'd wager.

No original ideas I could discern, which is mad for a kids show. Little nods here and there to old stuff are fine but, arrrrggghh. It was like watching 22 minutes of fanwank. -Ralph
