Wow... What a finale... Starscream's dead...
Prowl's dead...
Arcee's alive.
What became of the protoform Sari touched that started to glow?

I'll repost my thoughts from the IDW Forum, I guess. Right now my reaction is pretty non-existant. It definitely contained some of the sheer epic that Animated has become reknowned for, but the need to do their best to tie events up seemed to marinate the epic to a basic standard. Prowl and Starscream's deaths, the return to Cybertron, Omega Supreme whupping aft... all felt stale. Forced and unfeeling. There were two moments in this episode which made me and my brother look at each other in satisfaction; one being Shockwave first taking on the Autobot's on the moon (cuz he IS the baddest of asses in this show) and Megatron finally referring to Optimus Prime by name. Sari saying goodbye to her dad was almost touching, but her finding the protoforms and saying "I knew there was a reason I had to be here" and then doing nothing was a little odd.
I hate the powers that be for this cancellation. Not only will this awesome show never return as fresh as every episode has always been ever again, but the ending was unsatisfying and confusing.
Ultra Magnus will never get better. Optimus and Sentinel will never speak to each other again, let alone reach an understanding. Megatron never fought the Dinobots. Femscream, the Dinobots, the Constructicons and Wreck Gar are all still loose on Earth. Swindle and Lockdown never got their come-uppance.
*sigh*... this series still had so far to go.

I really found the end of this episode to be flat. It just seemed to end, when there still seemed to be things that needed wrapped up, and felt that too much was being crammed into too short an episode.
I really hope Hasbro green light another series at least of Animated, even if it is straight to DVD. I haven't enjoyed a TF series since the original until Animated came along.
The most annoying thing about the flat end for me is how it ended with Prowl still in his open topped coffin type thing, which reminded me so much of Ultra Magnus in Headmasters. Given how much he loved nature and earth, I couldn't have been the only person who was expecting at least an Ultra Magnus style funeral on Earth for him?

That was TOTALLY WICKED. And I never expected that to happen to Prowl! Jesus.

Out of curiousity as to how the show ended, I gave it a whirl. Left me cold, but I hope those of you who have been avidly following the show enjoyed it.

They could still possibly have an Earth funeral for him, that might just be them bringing his body home for a while so that the Autobots who didn't know of him could appreciate his sacrifice. Enjoyable episode and I am sorry to see the show cancelled. If we don't get a new series then a few Direct to DVD specials wouldn't go amiss. Andy

I didn't feel that this episode had the impact of the Season 2 finale - but had some great moments. Lots of plot threads dangling - hmmm.

I'm quite confident we haven't seen the last of Animated.
Well, less confident, more blindly hopeful to be honest.
It was an okay finale, but Kingoji is 100% on the ball with that post, I agree completely.

A fan podcast I listen to (Moonbase 2) speculated that a DVD movie could push the unreleased Animated toys should Hasbro want to get them out later on. Not an unrealistic idea, so you never know. I can't see it returning to broadcast telly though, if the main toy-line is dead.
But then, Hasbro have their own channel starting up next year, so who knows. Apparently some announcement is due at Botcon.
What I saw of Animated was competant and watchable but did not do much for me overall (though I did quite like the art direction and designs and it was generally well produced) but it made people happy so I am not opposed to a comeback, should there be one. There are enough existing shows for all flavours of TF fan!

Indeed. Animated was very competently put together indeed. On a technical level I thought it far outstripped a lot of its contemporaries, and it has certainly built itself an impressive fanbase. So, whilst it didn't entirely hold my interest I am pleased that it existed and that it extended the repetoire of the Transformers brand, and I do think it might have a bit of life in it yet.
With Hasbro's own channel on the way they could do with some new programming to make for a solid launch. It wouldn't be beyond the bounds of possibility for them to do a TF:Animated special for use as part of the launch line up.
