Looks like the additional members of the cast are going to be good for dramatic tension - the fact that the Elite Guard appear to be a little bit obnoxious should at least make them more interesting than if they were just a bunch of extra Autobot characters showing up to stand around in a mob. I do like Detective Fansome an awful lot. He is skating close to becoming my favourite character in the show. Karl |

Mind you, I think every squadroom might have one of those - he reminds me a bit of Stan Bolander from "Homicide", although less likely to die of a heart attack whilst running up a flight of stairs... Ultra Magnus has a giant hammer. Prime has his axe, Bulkhead has his wrecking ball, Prowl has his shurikens, Megatron has his twin swords, and Ultra Magnus has a GIANT FECKING HAMMER. I do hope the toy has a sound chip activated by hitting things with it.

Sentinel Prime is The Tick ===KEN He is in fact other things that end in -ick as well. Which is the joy of his character. Do like the introduction of the Elite Guard - they get set up fairly well and in doing their thing give the rest of the main cast a chance to shine. Not a bad episode - very heavy on the setup bits, but then as it has to premiere a new status quo for the show that is to be expected. I thought it was quite watchable though, and did a good job with the necessary setup. I don't know about Ultra Magnus being Thor, but he did strike me - of all the various animated incarnations of Magnus - as being the one that most felt like a combat veteran. His interaction with Sentinel and Optimus Prime sold that rather well I thought. (Also, did anyone else get an immediate "Enter the Dragon" flashback from Jazz's pose with those Nunchaku?) Karl |
