What do you do if a.) you have cold-type symptoms for about a month, which aren't controlled by antihistamines and b.) your new GP doesn't take your seriously, just on case it might be something "bad"?
FWIW I did have what I thought was a flu for two weeks in July. Which confused me as no-one who spends any time with me caught it, whatever "it" is.

I had cold/flu-like symptoms for about two months, then we discovered it was cancer of the lymph glands. A couple of years ago my dad spent nearly a year in near-constant pain from an easily treatable infection because his GP reckoned it was shingles. I doubt your problem is as serious, but as Martin said a second opinion would be wise. It's always best to be sure.
