Forgive the assumption that we're all materialist, but which 5 objects that you currently own best describe your personality?

I have a few pint glasses due to my love of drinking alcohol and also there's my PC because I spend a lot of time on it - even when I'm not on the net. As for my third object I'd say my books (I know they are more than one object but I'm counting all of them as one) because I like reading and also my bed because I do a lot of sleeping also! My fifth and final object has to be this joke buzzer that I keep by the side of my PC. It's called a 'bullshit button' and everytime it's pressed it emits a phrase that you can use when somebody is telling you some bullshit! That buzzer sums up my sense of humour.

Do you know, I have no idea. I'd have to say the stacks of art stuff and CD's, but there's way more than five of them!

MiniKa Optimus Prime from when I was 6. Last Legionary Quartet (fave book) Queens Of The Stone Age's first album *cough* Rhonda and Astrid (my bikes) That sounds like a list of your favourite things, not a list from which we can deduce your personality. I would question listing a PC in answer to this question just because one spends a lot of time on it. Nearly everyone does, and it says nothing these days about your personality. It's a difficult question. My house and garden as a whole are an excellent reflection of my personality, in terms of taste, content and obsessive-compulsive order. I think the way to approach the question is _not_ by thinking about the stuff you own and what your favourite possessions are, but by thinking about your personality and then which posessions reflect those things. And I think the location and nature of my home, how I live in it, the state I keep it in and what I keep in it are the best physical indications of my personality. And that's five things (thogh admittedly not objects)! What are your five things, Graham? Martin

Five possessions which sum up my personality... hm.
My glasses. I've had this pair a few years now, the lenses are slightly chipped around the edges and they don't quite cut it in aid of my vision anymore. They should be replaced, but I wont do it. Not yet.
Book; Japan's Favourite Mon-Star: The Unofficial Biography Of The 'Big G'. It's not the greatest book ever. I have a number of it's kind covering the histories of various works of fiction, and one or two detailing the lives of individuals, so it could have been any one of them. I like learning about the beginnings of things I've enjoyed.
The blank canvas which has been leaning against my wall forever, and will likely remain there forever.
My (first) Metallica tattoo. What better way can one display their dedication to something? This applies to my other tats as well. They are all OF something. No swirly tribals or geckos or eagles here.
A poster of my my artwork that Graham knocked up for me off of his own back, which is being kept prestine in it's tube until the day I can afford to frame it and have the space to display it.
Best I can think of.

Martin You would think Martin, but MiniKa symbolises the perpetual child in me. Prime symbolises my desire to be noble and do the right thing. Last Legionary Quartet would be my desire to appear heroic. The QOTSA album would be my state of mind at it's most relaxed. Rhonda and Astrid shape my physical form and if I feel healthy I generally feel better.

I have no idea, though I do get upset if I temporarily mislay my Slinky toy or multicoloured scarf, both of which I have had for many years and like to have within line of sight.

I suppose I could also list my collection of DVD's and CD's as objects of my personality also as the CD's reflect my love of 80's music while my DVD's reflect my love of classic films and 80's TV shows (including several kids shows). I listed my PC as an object of my personality because I am the only one in the house that has more than a basic understanding of computers. I'm not a computer engineer or any other kind of boffin but I do know a few things about setting up and running PC's from scratch and whenever my sister had a few computer problems she always used to come to me for help.
My personality can (like many other people) be summed up from my likes and hobbies. I like 80's music (that's my CD's covered), I like classic TV (that's my DVD's covered), I have a sometimes odd sense of humour (that explains the 'bullshit button'), I like sleeping (thats the bed) and I like to go down the pub occasionally or have a few drinks at home (thats the pint glasses).

Yes... but just to be awkward and nit-pick this thing (as is consistent with my personality)... that doesn't tell me much about your personality. It mostly tells me the stuff you like. It doesn't tell me whether you are easy-going or tense, loud or quiet, thoughtful or shallow, romantic or cold, altruistic or selfish, tidy or messy, lively or lazy (when not sleeping), etc., etc. Martin

What objects could effectively describe those 'qualities' because I can't think of any. I am easy-going and I can occasionally be quiet and thoughtful as well but I don't think I possess such objects that can describe them.

My lithograph animation cell of Eyore, everything about his expression and posture reminds me of me.
My custom Actiomaster Thundercracker - it takes a certain kind of personality to spend weeks repainting a toy pink.
Bob Ross Joy of painting video - It like Marmite you either love it or hate it.
My short film H.O.R.S.E probably does a good job of showing some of my personality, although it was made by a few of us.
Cant think of a fifth, maybe my MAking of Lilo and Stitch book which is a fantastically beautiful and insightful book.

Wow, what a good question! Very difficult to answer. I've done some hard thinking and here are my five:
My house (& garden)- it's what I (we) have been striving for for a long time.
My wedding ring- because not only does it symbolise my love for and marrage to the wonderfull Mrs Shockprowl, but also I feel it symbolises my family, ie The Piglet, and my devotion to them both. They are my Universe.
My Ross and Wilson anatomy book- Got me through my basic Ambulance training. It represents my career in a job that I love and all my hard work (and is also a damn good anatomy book!).
The Times Atlas of European History- I'm not a scholar, and can't remember half the dates I read about, but I've had a copy of this book ever since it was first printed (mid 90s I think). It's one of the finest books I've ever read, presenting an overview of Euorpean political history in a brilliant series of maps. History isn't my greatest source of interest, but this book is so 'right-up-my-alley' with it's wonderfull maps, that I'd miss it terribly if it was gone. I suppose it represents my need to escape into something, be it history, astronomy, Marvel Superheroes, TV, films.
My 'Masterpiece' Prowl- Collecting collectables is a large part of my life, and my greatest escapism, and the MP Prowl I assembled from Binaltech Alert (nods to Nickos), Alternator Prowl, and some labels from Reprolabel is my favourate of all my toys. 'MP' Prowl is the ultimate representation of a character that enthralled me as a child. Whenever I see Prowl in a comic or story, I always get a prang of the childhood wonder and excitement that I felt right at the dawn of Transformers, when they gripped my imagination like nothing else had before (except, perhaps, Star Wars). Because the character Prowl stirs that childhood wonder in me, my best toy version of Prowl embodies the child-like quality in myself that I have maintained throughout my life.

The first three items you've listed Shockprowl are probably the best answers we've had so far in this thread. You say you've got a Times book of European History? I've got one just like the one you describe but its called The Times History of the World and it is one of the best and most informative history I have ever picked up and one I recommend to anybody with a passing interest in the subject.

This thread has been most illuminating! Thanks for sharing. I will have a think about my objects this week. It's a more difficult question than I first realised!!
