Apparently, as British people, we spend an average of 4 hours and 18 minutes watching television per day. That's, like, 18% of the day!
How much television do you watch? Is it above or below the national average?

I don't watch any "live" television whatsoever these days.
Though I am working my way through a Battlestar Galactica boxset I got for Christmas, and I usually watch one episode over a weekend. And then there's maybe one film from the online DVD rental people per week.
So, my average is about 3/4 hour per day.

To a certain extent thats about spot on with me although the bulk of my TV viewing comes at night times when I go channel hopping through the music channels on digital. If there is a segment on one music channel that features my favourite types of music I'll watch it for most of the night. Failing that I'll put on a DVD. Up until about fifteen years ago however I used to watch over eight hours TV a day. There was always something on that I wanted to watch but these days I can find nothing that really grabs my attention.

I own no TV, so my viewing is down via iPlayer, youtube, etc. I don't watch programmes every day: some weeks I only watch at a weekend. Due to time spent at work, I don't have time to watch 3-4 hours of stuff a day even if I wanted to! I've actually built up quite a backlog of programmes to watch.

Do Pingu & In The Night Garden being on for Jonathan count as me watching TV ?? Yes! Er, actually, No! Please No! Not another episdoe of Zing Zillas!!! We do, I have to admit, watch a good amount of Telly. We only, however, watch a carefully selected group of programmes. These are often of the American sit-com (eg: Fraser, Cheers, Desperates) or Action (eg: CSI, Angel, Heroes), genre. I like my Movies, often rented from the Library, and documentaries, especially Space/Planet/Science stuff, and naturally I watch cartoons based on Transformers or Marvel when I can. And I curse the fact that Mrs Shockers likes Supper Nanny. Don't watch any medical programmes though, strangely. So I'd prob say 3 hours a night is average. Piglet, an hour and a half limited (she'd spend all day infront of the Telly if she could!)

Really hard to say. I watch very little I think but I listen to many many hours of TV. Most of the time its not my primary focus but its on and I'm mostly pay attention. Even the shows I watch regularly, SGU, 24, Bones and various other mostly US shows I only half watch. At the moment the only shows I really tend to focus on are Dr Who, Lost and increasingly SGU.

When I was a kid my parents had to drag me kicking and screaming away from the old gogglebox but these days I don't find anything really worth watching on it. I watch the Grand Prix motor racing and occasional snooker matches but other than that it's just music channels. At the moment I ain't even watching DVD's because I have to be in the mood to watch a DVD of a particular length like a film or several episodes of a TV series and I'm just not in the mood at the moment for such an interest.

Hmm. In terms of broadcast television I'd say that it comes out to between an hour and an hour and a half a day on average. A little bit more on a Sunday, and a bit less on a day when the Brave and the Bold episode is one I have already seen....
I probably spend about an hour every second day watching something on DVD (currently Mad Men S2, but it depends what has emerged from the rental queue.)
