Got Aragogs Lair (Harry Potter) on sale a few weeks back. Finally built it. The Spider design is fantastic.

Of course the Riddler has a skateboard. I mean, why wouldn't he? Not sure why Mr. Freeze set has a Nolan-esque "batcycle"? Batmobile vs Joker set looks decent.

It's ages since I saw them do that over here I'm quite taken with the U-wing model, it makes for a neat little set

Hrm - normally the bonus sets are varied. I wonder what others there are?

It doesn't even look as fun as the original with its swinging troop carrier platform thing!

Saw the 20th anniversary sets at the LEGO store today - they all seem kind of over-priced? I was tempted by the podracer until I saw it was €30. They also had some new mainline Star Wars sets that I'd not heard were on their way including a Rey vs. Kylo from the end of TFA which looks quite nice. But again €20 for two figures and a bit of landscape seems a bit steep.

It does feel like the anniversary sets have acquired 'premium' pricing. I look forward to picking them up cheap in 2020.
20 years of Lego Star Wars though. Where did my life go?

20 years ago I was working at a shop in Reading and a colleague's wife worked for LEGO, and she got all the Star Wars sets for free. Their little flat was just full of Star Wars LEGO.

This led to me remembering being told, and I don't know how true it is as I can find no citation online though it did come from someone who worked for LEGO, that they were actually pursuing the Indiana Jones licence from Lucasfilm but ended up with Star Wars instead as part of the Episode I promotional push.

That does sound plausible.
After Shadows of the Empire, Lucasfilm were pretty damned agressive with the promotional work, so I can see them offering them up Star Wars instead.
Long term it was always the smarter option, more options for figures and sets.

Possibly they weren't after SW at first because they had their own Space lines anyway whereas Jones might be a new adventurer type of thing?

That makes sense for at least two reasons.
I dont think Lego were as big back then, Indiana Jones would maybe have been considered more achievable by them.
Also if we ignore the Nazis, Indiana Jones probably fits Legos no war/violence whatever policy better than Star Wars.
I remember a friend at Sixth Form bringing in sets from what must have been the first year or two of the line, twas my first push towards lego, finished a few years later by this here forums efforts.

Shops here seem to be clearing out Episode VIII sets, and I bought Defense of Crait for under half price. It's a really nice build! The biggest I've done in years, as well, very satisfying to do something like that piecemeal over a few evenings.

Picked up the Harry Potter spiders set on a (slight) sale in Tesco this afternoon. Many, many spiders!

Is it strange that I prefer the look of the original Slave 1 7144-1 from 2000? There's something deeply appealing to me about the use of just basic Lego pieces.
