Single-use plastic has to be phased out for good environmental reasons.
Maybe you can rattle them and guess the contents from the sound, or weigh them in your hand and gauge the contents by weight? You must develop your other senses, like Daredevil.

Truly blind-bagged minifigures might increase waste because people will get more of what they don't want. They need to put something on the packets so people can identify what's inside if they want a complete set.

Building a brick construction set from one of the other manufacturers really shows how far ahead Lego are in manufacturing precision. They manage to strike a balance between bricks being securely attached and ease of separation.

I have now acquired the full set of Lego Muppets. They have taken full occupancy of the Taj Mahal.
I have also acquired the Lego Batman magazine now in newsagents which comes with two toy bags, one of them a Batman Begins Batmobile/Tumbler, the other a Batcycle.

Is that the Batfleck Murdermobile? It's hard to be sure, since there are so many different-but-similar Batmobiles, which makes it very hard to tell them apart when reduced to this scale...
