Here's an observation.
Remember when Simon Furman was given the heave-ho by IDW to make way for AHM? There was an online uproar, wasn't there?
But when Shane McCarthy was ousted in favour of Mike Costa, there was nary a mention.
Think about it.

Oh there was mention. Just of the "Thank Christ!' variety. Which supports your point in any case.

Putting aside my dislike for AHM, we were given a bit more notice. Well I'm not sure about that but it seems that way at least. Furman's run was hurriedly wrapped up and we got a big change of direction. AHM ran for the intended 12 issues (unless you read the Titan reprint) and fits a little better with the ongoing* which started yet another change of direction.
*OK I quickly dropped it, but that's my impression.

Unfortunately though Shame McCarthy will be back again very sooooooooooooooooooon! His return is like the unwelcome presence of an annoying relative come to see you again after about ten years and announcing that they are going to live next door to you!

Ah yes, the Drift mini! Hilarity will undoubtedly ensue with the writing in that one. Unintended hilarity, most likely.

The Drift mini probably won't end up being a mini seeing that Shame McCarthy is writing it. It will be scheduled for about four issues and then they'll add about another ten issues onto the end of that because IDW's favourite writer couldn't manage to conclude the story in four issues!

The trade solicit is on Amazon. It's four issues. Like his writing or not, but his series have stayed to solicited length. -Ralph

Technically his comics have stayed to solicited length but in the case of AHM an extra four issues was stapled on the end in order to clear up the mess that was created. I suspect a similar thing will happen with this one and an additional series will be added at the end to tie up the loose ends once more with (hopefully) Nick Roche picking up the story to conclude it.

The IDW universe needs another Roche injection if you ask me.
