Ah, bank holidays: A time where we give thanks to all those hard working bankers who have done so much for our economy and ask for so little in return.

Some sadist decided that my last Uni exam for the year should be the Tuesday after the Bank Holiday. So I've been studying all weekend, no fun for me right now. :/

The bicycle section of my local branch of Halfords continue to make me laugh. I stopped going there a few years ago because whenever I took my bike in for them to repair they usually gave it back to me in the same condition I gave it to them in yet they claimed that they had fixed it! Now my brother has seen that the store only hires trained chimps to run it. Last week he had a puncture on his bike and so he took it into Halfords for them to put a new inner tube and tyre on it. They did so but obviously didn't check the wheel rim to see if there was a sharp edge that had caused the puncture in the first place. My brother rode the bike home and scored a puncture minutes after leaving the store on the same wheel. A couple of days later he went to the shop and brought a new inner tube from them and decided to change it himself. This morning he opened up the box with the new inner tube in, took out the new inner tube and discovered that this new inner tube had a massive hole in it! Judging by the look of the hole in this so-called new inner tube and also by how it had seemingly been stuffed in the box it looks like somebody brought this inner tube, blew it up at home too much causing it to bang. They then put it back in the box and took it back to the shop claiming it was the wrong size or something and got a new one. Halfords, without checking the inner tube first just put it back on the shelves and sold it as a new inner tube.

I was looking for an upright pump with a gauge in Halfords yesterday. There is no chance I'm paying £30 for one.
This weekend. I've done nothing. Lots of sleep, a bit of booze and I just got back from a night out in Reading.
I do have to fix a puncture on my bike however.

The Sky + box stopped working last night. THe timing suck the parents are away and we need to record stuff, the second box has been faulty for months so only records about half whats sets in fact we just ordered the Sky HD box to replace it, but now it will have to replace the other one. So we're no better of than a week ago.
Now have to look into backing up the broken box if the hard drive is still working.

Working in an animal feedmill sucks sometimes, we don't get bank holidays!
Such a lovely day outside too. Bah!

For me the public holiday was last week as, like the local authority here, I get Victoria Day instead. A shame, as the weather is rather lovely here and if I wasn't at work I could be in the garden with my feet up reading Robert E Howard. Ah well.

We still have three peregrine chicks after all! Huzzah! And they're starting to fly! (And getting beaten up by seagulls.) One of them found its way down to the pavement on Saturday and was carried back up onto the roof of City Hall by a trained handler. Had a pleasant day today showing them to passers-by and watching them get into scrapes. Martin

After messing around this morning with Sky spent a pleasant day painting Thundercracker(, besides the horrible, horrible green, why must it be so difficult?) and working on Impactor.

Work-wise today was a bit of a pisstake. Last Saturday I was told by my supervisor that I was in work on Tuesday. Come Monday however I was told by the job agency that I wasn't. I mentioned it to the job agency what I had been told on Saturday but they still said that I wasn't in. This morning I got up about 8.30 and by 9am I received a call from the job agency asking me to come into work. Despite this short notice I still dragged myself into work and started at 10.15 as opposed to my normal start of 8am.
The good news though is that I've been confirmed as working the rest of the week as well so it didn't end too badly.

Hello Sportsfans!!!! I spent the bank hol freakin' working. Still got paid for it. Today, busy planning Piglet's 4th birthday on the 17th. Getting lots of garden based toys this year, as we have a garden, swing, wendy house, sand-pit the size of Nebraska, that sort of thing. Church hall and Boucey Castle already booked for the traditional How Insane Is Your Child Event (the party). My med kit is fully stocked, don't worry.

Oh, thanks for the fine Luke Cage fig, Nige! Fast delivery, excellent condition, you can marry my Sister any day (please, I'd be glad to get her out of the house, you should hear the noise she makes when she eats a boiled egg).

Good work Matt. I think I've lost about that over the last few months, I love Wii Fit, seeing a number recorded everynight makes it a lot easier to stay focussed.
The Sky problem was resolved with crazy easy. My brother bought a docking cradle so we could back up the harddrive from the kaput box then today the Sky engineer (who went from £55 to free when I suggested we would not replace the broken box, so would cancel multiroom and sky would loose £10 per month) arrived and brought with him a new Sky + box. No questions he just set it up and took the old one away. He even finished setting up the Sky HDbox that arrived yesterday and registered the pair. An install that would have cost £30 if I'd asked for it.
Currently trying out two blue paints for Thundercrackers upper legs. Light blue or Metalic? Photos will be PM to Matt for the final call as soon as I stop typing this.

I was told today that I'm off work tomorrow and I thought that my bad luck for today had ended but it hadn't. Usually my bad luck comes in three's and it certainly did today. I got home, decided to put a few things from my PC onto a blank DVD and, when I had done that I went to get my DVD pen from out of my pencil tin. I took it out and realised that somebody had used it prior to me and had left the top off. The only DVD pen in the whole house had gone dry and I worked out who had done it. About a week ago my father asked for a biro so I gave him my pencil tin full of pens, pencils and anything else that would fit in it. He tried a few, didn't like any of them and gave me the pencil tin back. It was him who had tried out my DVD pen thinking it was a normal pen and had left the top off it. Anyway, back to present day and the third bit of bad luck came shortly after the second one. Whilst frantically looking around for some sort of permanent marker to replace my DVD pen I accidently split the tracksuit bottoms I was wearing at the crotch!
Surely, nothing else can go wrong .... can it?

I finally got my itinerary from KAUST for my orientation in Cairo. I have a five hour stopover in Heathrow in both directions, but whaddya gonna do? Thankfully they didn't book anything on BA. I leave next Thursday morning, arriving around 6 p.m. local time. Friday is orientation, then on the Saturday I depart at 10 again and arrive home around 10 p.m. Doesn't leave much time for pyramid-spotting. Maybe I'll see some as we're landing.

EDIT: Hour is spelled with an "H". Whoopsie.

Watch out for any pyramids being dismantled by angry robots Nick....
I have an impromptu long weekend this weekend, having realised that I still have over twenty days leave untaken for this year I decided to tag a Friday and a Monday off onto my weekend.
So I am looking forward to four days off, and hopefully some good weather so I can get out and about to do a few things. I sense a possible zoo visit to see the monkey's in the near future.

My weekend will end tomorrow. I've been told I've got another day off work tomorrow but I'll be working Saturday for overtime pay according to what the supervisor told me on Wednesday.
