ROTF Brawn
Revenge of the Fallen Brawn is of course a homage to the original Autobot Brawn - a mini Autobot from the first year of Transformers, 1984, whose design was inherited from the Microchange toy line. His vehicle mode here is a Hummer HX attack vehicle which is reminiscent of the Toyota Land Cruiser used for the original. The major differences are that here the vehicle is brown rather than green, and that the new toy has a gun on the roof - the designers obviously have one eye on an Outback repaint - the original Outback is a remould of Brawn with a gun on the roof.
TF: Fold the door panels up to the sides unlocking many of the other parts. Fold the bonnet and windscreen panels out to the sides then fold out the underside of the front of the vehicle to form the legs. Rotate the halves of the front grill so the round end points up to form the knees. Fold down the feet and fold out the heel spurs. Fold the sides of the rear of the vehicle down to point down under the vehicle. Fold the roof back behind the rear of the vehicle. Turn over exposing the robot's chest & face then turn the waist through 180 degrees. Fold the roof back towards the head covering the upper arms and exposing the hands which are holding his guns. Separate the arms, folding the shoulders down - you'll see them move through the holes in the chest - and to the sides while keeping the guns facing forward. Fold the arms down to the sides and raise the head. Rotate the gun through 180 degrees on the robot's back so it points up. The gun can then be folded onto the robot's back or rotated slightly to one side and folded over the shoulder.
Brawn's robot mode will be much to the more to the liking of Generation 1 fans: lots of green on the arms and legs with the chest gold (invoking the orange of the original) with a silver helmet with mouthpiece. His upper legs look a little thin but there's a little additional transformation you can do that will improve this: turn the bonnet/windscreen halves round so the windscreens points down, fold the windscreens down and then push the bonnet halves in over the upper legs bulking them out. He comes with a pair of pistols which are held by a 5mm peg - result, let's find a Requiem Blaster for him. The handles for the guns have a slit down one side which means they can be slid onto the panels on his back for storage. Plenty of articulation here - his head is on a ball joint while the neck bends forward at the body and the waist turns. The hands rotate at the wrist, bend twice at the elbow which is useful for getting the gun raised with elbow pointed down pose that I like, there's a bicep swivel right bellow the ball jointed shoulder which in turn can raise up inside the body. The hips similarly are ball joints - however mine seem to be made of plasticine as they have fallen off several times ! There's a swivel joint bellow the hip, the knees likewise bend twice - partially as a function of the transformation - and finally the ankles bend.

Overall: Vehicle mode could have been green, but the robot is pure love. Resembles the original, plenty of articulation, has guns and (unlike many Movie toys) can hold stand Transformer weapons. Get one, especially if you can still find it for £8 in Tescos.

Outback is a must. There's potential in a RID X-Brawn version. After that how about using the various colours of Energon Strongarm as inspiration.
