The Micromaster Hot Rod Patrol were released in 1990 in the same wave of Micromaster toys that also featured the Military and Monster Truck Patrols. We can be pretty certain of this because there's been a recent warehouse find of cases of these three patrols meaning that they're available cheaply (aprox £35.00 for a set of all three carded).
The whole team was available in Japan as C-362 Hot Rod Team and were packed with Micro Trailer 2.
Big Daddy
Big Daddy is a black modified 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air hot rod convertible with red flames along the side.
TF: Fold the rear of the car back to form the legs. Stand with the underside facing forward. Fold the bonnet down onto his chest.
Big Daddy's robot mode exposes orange plastic on his chest & head. His shoulders tower some way above the head giving him a slightly odd appearance. He's got the standard Micromaster articulation of turning shoulders and bending but linked hips & knees
Big Daddy is co-moulded with Greaser and in Japan Big Daddy was called Grease. The name was reused eighteen years later for Movie Big Daddy a recolour of Cybertron Downshift (Wheeljack)
Greaser
Greaser is an orange Ford "Deuce Coupe" hot rod with yellow flame details.
TF: fold the rear of the car down to form the legs. Stand with the roof of the car towards you. Fold the bonnet down onto the robot's back and fold the arms down from the bottom of the chest.
Greaser's robot mode has black upper legs, (hidden) body and head. He looks very odd with the open fronts to the legs - these don't bend quite properly when he bends his legs - standard Micromaster articulation again. In fact the robot looks much better from the rear - an identical TF to Big Daddy would have given a much better toy.
Greaser is co-moulded with Big Daddy. In Japan he is called Legs.
Hubs
Hubs is a green Willys Coupe hot rod with a prominent engine block mounted on his bonnet & orange painted flames.
TF: Fold the rear of the car back to form the legs. Stand with the underside facing forward. Fold the bonnet down onto his chest.
The robot mode for Hubs exposes white upper legs, chest and head. He's got the same standard Micromaster articulation as the rest of the team.
Hubs is co-moulded with Trip-Up. In Japan Hibs was called Lucas.
Trip-Up
Trip-Up is a white Ford Mustang Hot Rod with pale blue flame detailing.
TF: Fold the rear of the car back to form the legs. Stand with the underside facing forward. Fold the bonnet down onto his chest.
We get green - shared with his co-mould Hubs - found on the robot mode's head, chest and legs. Standard articulation as per the other members of the team.
In Japan Trip-Up is called Vanishing.
It's another Micromaster team of four cars which is much to it's detriment. Three transform very similarly and the one that's different is to it's detriment. Apart from the personality of the individual Micromasters there's little here that can't be found in any other Micromaster car team.
