It's been three weeks since I got my iPad (do bear in mind, I am in the UK, so had to wait), and I don't think I've put it down. Not even to sleep. It's been a love affair that's been easier on my wrist than my last one.
I've been testing the waters, comic book-wise, on different Apps. Marvel Comics and IDW Comics are fantastic. All five issues of Last Stand of the Wreckers were immediately purchased (and at £1.19 per issue, amazing value!). For fellow comic book lovers, I also recommend ComicZeal4 (£5) and CloudReader (FREE!).
Which brings me to Hubris, my Transformers fanzine. I'm cobbling together some Made For iPad versions of Hubris. For starters, and easy enough, I'm thinking of offering back issues of Hubris (free of charge, of course) in formats that ComicZeal4 and CloudReader can handle. Hubris Chronicles, I am offering (again, free) in EPUB format, which is the format used by Apple's own iBooks App.
So, if any of you have an iPad and would like to be some kind of "Beta Tester" then please get in touch, and I will give you a link from which to download a few free test files. You can then sync them to your iPad and flick through them until your heart is content (or you reach the last page, whichever comes first.) If you want to send me a PM, I will reply very soon with links.
Once a few tests have been carried out, I will get to work on making the entire Hubris back catalogue (almost five years of issues) available. Oh, and I hear that iPhone 4 will have iBooks as well!
Let's hear it for fan-created stuff for the iPad! Let's call it FaniPad. Wait, I've just read that back to myself, so let's not.
