In work today I mentioned that felt a little like Sisyphus what with the neverending work and all the same. After getting quite rightly slapped for being pretentious, I was then asked who Sisyphus was. After explaining I then got "Ohhh that dude who screwed over Ulysses and nicked his space ship" Ahh its great to see Ulysses 31 did something for our history lessons

I don't know any names from that series - but know the theme song [only the one word] & the lead guy looked like a BeeGee.

No, it's not, it's The Odyssey in Space, with some extra Greek mythology thrown in. (Ullyses is the Roman name for Odysseus. Sisyphus wasn't part of that myth.) However, some scholars believe that Homer's story of Odysseus may have influenced the Gospel of Mark. I've been watching a good series on History called Clash of the Gods, which gives reasonably detailed accounts of Greek myths and also explores the possible reality surrounding them. For example, the visions of the Oracle at Delphi may have been a result of natural gases found at that site. Sisyphus' story was included in the programme about Hades. The series finished last week, but I assume History shows these things ad nauseum. Ullyesses 31 has been on list of DVDs to buy for ages. I must get around to it sometime soon. I always thouht the series was called just Ullysses; it was years later I learned about the 31. Here are some clips: www.history.com/shows/clash-of-the-gods/videos There's a different, English narrator for the UK broadcasts. Ah, yes, there are episodes repeated from this Sunday. www.history.co.uk/shows/clash-of-the-gods/episode-guide.html

Yea I heard of the inconsistencies as well. It just tickled me that after I explained the myth to this guy, he thought I was talking about the TV show. It felt like a Simpsons moment and I was talking to Homer
