Cerebus the Aardvark - in short is it worth a look?
In the eyes of a few comic book readers out there it is alongside the epic Bone - which I love and other greats
My tastes are very broad but just wondered if this is worth a look
Do I bite the bullet and buy the first collected edition, or is there a cheaper method of getting a taste of c typical Cerebus story?
Finally, any advice on who best to grab this from - any recomended sellers of old comics at the mo?

I would say yes - its an epic tome but I love it. get the collected book - its a brick but you will lose at least a few days in it.
Not as good as some other works, but got me.
I place it alongside The Crow, Watchmen, and the Final Sandman book for pulling on my emotions
Other books may hit you through their action and pace and such like, but I think these are much more subtle

A year or so back I realised my Bone trade collection was incomplete, but the black and white editions were no longer available. Took some serious searching to find the ones I needed, one is ex-library. Did I re-read it once it was all there? …oops.
Cerebus I fell off once it got to the essay sections. Flight? I forget. I was enjoying it for the most part. That was around the turn of the millennium though.
