It's about time I made a thread about this! Inspired by Nick, I've picked up a load of carded G1/2 figures for sale with all profits going to Nick's charity of choice via Toy Fu (I'm pretty sure this is still Mary's Meals). There seems to have been a surprising amount of interest in these the last time I mentioned them, so if any Hubber wants to reserve a set before AA send me a PM. The rest will be on the Toy Fu stall (as long as Nick is still up for it!) Rescue Force MOSC - £45Beastforce without the breasts! All four Rescue Force figures MOSC are waiting for you. The cards aren't perfect, but they've been in storage for 20 years after all. Red-Leozak! Clawtank guy! Drilltank! And Blue-Buggy! They... they really need names! They can also combine into an armless, hatless robot! Bogatan has made some red hats for the combined mode, which is called uh... Rescue King? Sure. I believe he's bringing them along to AA as well. One day we will find a way to make him arms! Yellow/Grey Constructicons MOSC - £45The Constructicons without their combinerness! All six Constructicons in their late G1 release without their combiner parts, the cards on these are generally very nice. Perfect if you want something kooky, and a set of Constructicons to keep MOSC (since them not combining doesn't matter if they live on a card!). Also hey, six G1 MOSC figures for £45, that's nuts. G2 Sparkler Minibots Blaze and Sizzle - £7 each
I've only got one of each of these left, Mr Turnbull has had the rest and he can attest to how cool these are. Sizzle is the same character from G1, Blaze (the buggy) is amazing because his function is HIT MAN!Sparklers are all gone! G2 Windbreaker - £7
Bubble is a bit yellowed on this guy, but the figure itself is fine. Also it is WINDBREAKER. What an amazing name.Windbreakers are all gone or on hold pending buyer finances! If you want to reserve a set let me know and I'll sort you out. Also let me know if you plan to keep them carded or open them, so I can sort out the best cards. If you can't get to Auto Assembly I can post them out, I reckon postage will be about £5 for the carded sets each. Once they're gone, they're gone! FAQ Where did these come from, are you the devil?Factory find abroad a year ago. The whole find has been distributed now so if you haven't seen anyone else selling them, they probably don't have any (I've been sitting on them specially for Auto Assembly). Also yes, yes I am What's in it for you?I'm not making any personal profit from this, all profit is going to charity. As I said, Nick inspired me at last year's convention! If you DO want to give me money for my personal ends, I'm also selling some of my own stuff though, go here! tmukhub.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=stockex&action=display&thread=3492Do you have millions of these? If only! As of typing I have two Windbreakers, one each of the Sparklers and about half a dozen Constructicon sets and Rescue Force sets still available. But as I said, interest has been surprisingly high!

While considering the poll, A thought inside did roll: Rescue Force in G2 hues... The backs of my eyes, they would bruise. After too much time, I'd likely go blind But just the thought doth blow my mind!

One day we will find a way to make him arms! The day has arrived. I have this bootleg: Taking the arms from the bootleg and putting it with your Rescue Force [ignore Drillhorn] gives you this: Add the hat from Bogatan, and all it needs is shoulder stickers with yellow and black stripes and an Autobot logo. I currently have 3 spare of the bootleg, which I can bring with me to AA. £20 each if you're interested, let me know!

Thats a highly dysfunctional looking kaiser,3 bots and 3 cons is asking or trouble, but the mostly blue look isn't bad. If you don't have a yellow drillhorn try making use the green KO, its one of my favourite KOs. Its got more and better paint and chrome than either of the real ones.

I do have a yellow Drillhorn, but it's still carded and I'm waiting until I have a set of red weapon Rescue Force on card [from the lovely Blueshift] before I open my grey weapons Drillhorn and Killbison, just because they're carded differently and I want to see the difference. But yeah, that green KO one is shockingly high quality. The Jarugar and Leozack are shoddy, the others are decent quality and the Drillhorn is actual release quality, with added chrome drill!

The range in quality of that set is impressively extreme.
OH I only just noticed are all the Jarugar's yellow?
The one I have is black, but it looks much better in yellow amongst the rest of the set.

Wow, you were right about the quality of these KOs. Luckily the arms are really nice (Gaihawk is about release quality, Hellbat slightly below, probably cos of the white plastic, but still nice), Jaguar and Leozak are as if made by a crude child, Killbison broke when I unplugged the leg, and Drillhorn is nicer than any of the official releases. He has painted fists! And chrome! Anyway, I only got this set for the arms, so I'm super super happy. I also like the huge gun, not sure what to do with the sword though, since it has a strange handle!

My killbison broke while removing the leg too. At least it gives you a set of turrets if you don't want the claws.

I think the claws are a bit of a nuisance when combined, maybe a turrest on the side that becomes the front of the leg and the claw on the otherside. best of both worlds.

I just need to work out where to stash Leozak's gun now. Sadly it is just too small for the gestalt to hold it in its fist

He could hold it with the power of Blu-Tac.

The design of the gun looks like it SHOULD fit in the gestalt's hand, but the KO is just the wrong size by a tiny amount. That and the fact Jaguar's guns peg into his hips (which I didn't realise till your pic) makes me think that the gestalt mode was originally planned in the design process.

I've said it before , but I'll say it again. I want to know more about the history of Transformers from the moment someone thought Thundercracker should be pink through the first wave of new moulds to form part of G2.
Personally I think the arms were planned but the moulds weren't available for whatever reason. If they had been Rescue force and the constructicons would have kept their combined forms. With no Liokaiser there was no point in Devastator.
That or late on some decided 3 rescue planes along with 4 Predators in the same class was to many planes.

Oh, absolutely.
But Devastator was actually remolded to remove the peg on Hook, which I find a fascinating decision in itself. Was it cost-cutting, or was there market research that said parents at the time wouldn't buy kids toys that combined because they thought they weren't getting a complete one? (I remember being on holiday and my parents refused to buy me a combining toy unless I could find all the parts to it).
The guns were needed because they didn't want to use/have the chest molds. I'd find it hard to believe they lost one set of molds, then did work on weapons, and then realised they lost the other molds for the two jets. Also I find it hard to beleive that the chests weren't gang-molded to each figure's mold. We know now how expensive it is to even modify molds. More likely they blocked off the parts of the mold that cast the chest/hat.
Also a very lesser-known fact is that there was a running change on the Constructicons where they grey was turned to yellow and the purple to a different shade, being a 'missing link' between them and the G2 ones. Why? I have no idea. But it makes more sense than the change of weapon colours and faces on Rescue Force (look at the packaging art, they have the red weapons, but the face colours that were with the silver weaponed toys)

So the peg was removed then put back for G2? How strange.
Was Hooks peg metal? if it was avoiding unneeded metal parts might have been worth the remould?
I only have Killbisons breastmaster to hand, but the red parts of it are not present on killbison so at least at least one sprue was solely for the master, in which case its quite possible even though its the same colour as parts on killbison, the grey parts of the breast master are from separate sprues too.
In which case removing 2 sprues to be replaced by one for the new claws might be viewed as economical. Actually if KB cannons and the add ons for the other figures were cast as part of the breastmaster sprues it would explain why they all got new weapons.
That kind of makes sense I think, leozacks hat is the same green as parts of the breastmaster, Jarugars red rockets are a plastic not used on him but are (I think ) on its breastmaster.
I can see the breasts being removed as a cost saving, its not just the plastic, but the pins and construction, the weapons on the other hand just need pulling off the sprues.
The theory I heard about the arms being lost is that the chinese reissues (which seem to have been responsible for the Euro reissues ) of Liokaiser were released as a giftset and as individual boxed figures, but no one has ever found any Gaihawks or Hellbats as single releases leading people to believe something could have happened to them between the runs.
It could be as simple as moving to a new factory and leaving some moulds behind, which apparently has happened.
