Extremely clever and enthralling, To have an intelligent summer blockbuster is heartwarming.

I saw it today whilst sipping a beer. I think it may be the best film of the year.

The one thing about the film that made me lose some respect for it was the too, too obvious ending shot. About half way through the film, I thought "I wonder if they'll be unimaginative enough to finish on a 'Or _is_ it?' note." And they did. Me, I'd have rather seen the spinning top fall over. Martin

I can't quite make up my mind about the last shot. On the one hand I would have just liked it to fall over because I'd hate the "real" world to be fake. On the other hand the uncertainty kind of fits and anyway I view it as being a bit cheeky rather than an ominous or_is_it moment. But yes great film. I saw it yesterday morning (and for less than a fiver!) and was impressed. Film of the year so far for me? Probably though I can't quite remember what's come out this year, but certainly better than the last film I watched (Predators). If anyone has an iThing you can currently get "Inception: The Cobol Job...a...19-page prologue to the feature film" for free via the comixology app. Not read it yet myself but oOoo freebie.

Went to see this last night. Enjoyed it a lot although a thought the dialogue could've been a bit clearer at a few points. Very smart film, certainly not a popcorn flick. And the ending? Well handled I thought. The audience I saw it with were totally silent throughout, completely engrossed and collectively protested at the end. Well done to the film makers there I'd say.
And Tommy Solomon... all grown up now. *Sniff*

I just saw this film this morning. I can safely say that I am very impressed with it. One of the most intelligent films I have seen in the cinema for a while, and I think the cast did a fantastic job with it as well. Interesting to see some hints of the post-cyberpunk genre beginning to seep through into cinema too. I did like some of the structural aspects of the film - Decaprio's character explaining to the new architect how dreams have a way of just starting in the middle of things, after the film has already done this to us itself by starting both of the first scenes in media res.
As to the last scene, I'm not sure that it is supposed to be important whether it falls or not. The way I read the scene the significant fact is - after spending the rest of the film assiduously, almost neurotically checking when he emerges - he doesn't look to see if it falls or not. Making the question that seems more important to me whether that is because he no longer needs that crutch to tell dream from reality or because this is too important to him for him to want to know. That is my idea of the way that scene can be read anyway. At least, I think it is my idea...... [\spoiler]
