Been a little while coming this one.....
Eagle Eye
Eagle Eye is a very pale blue Boeing-McDonnell-Douglas F/A-18C Hornet fighter jet. He's got a pair of wheels under the rear of the jet and a moulded, permanently lowered, front landing gear.
Transform: Fold the nose of the jet down and under so that the landing gear recesses into the body of the jet. Pull the back of the jet down and back to form the legs. Stand with the underside of the jet facing you. The wings can be folded away behind the robot but I like my jet robots with their wings out.
Eagle Eye's jet mode is similar in form to the original Decepticon jets with the nose forming the chest. Since he has the standard Micromaster articulation he beats the amount of movement those jets have easy. His upper legs & chest are moulded in bright white plastic which works well alongside the pale blue.
About all you could want from a jet Micromaster. Good show.
Sky High
Not the Pretender that we couldn't get in the UK, but a new Micromaster character with the same name. Sky High's vehicle mode is Concorde moulded in an authentic white. He has a moulded front landing gear plus two wheels under the wings at the back.
Transform: fold the nose up (Concorde noses should fold *down*!) then pull the body of the jet forward and down to form the legs. Stand with the underside facing you. Again we have the facility to fold the wings back if you should want to.
Sky High's robot mode is similar to Whisper from the Air Strike Patrol with the legs formed from the underside of the nose. He's got the same pale blue used for Eagle Eye's vehicle mode forming his upper legs and chest. Sky High has standard Micromaster articulation but the knees are restricted preventing them from bending in the right direction but allowing them to bend in the wrong direction.
Not bad as a jet but the limits on the robot's knees mark him down a bit.
Tread Bolt
Tread Bolt is a dark blue stealth bomber, with a wheel under each wing and a moulded landing gear at the front.
Transform: Fold the underside of the front of the jet forward 180 degrees to form the legs. Stand with the underside facing you. Like the previous two members of the team you can fold the wings back if you want to.
Tread Bolt's jet mode reveals mustard yellow upper legs and chest. He has the standard Micromaster articulation but the knees fold very little in the right direction, but massively in the wrong direction as part of the Transformation. There's no reason that the knees should have been limited so he gets marked down for this minor problem.
Blazemaster
Blaze Master is the reason you see few complete sets of this team on eBay. He's a mustard yellow Sikorsky MH-53 Pave Low helicopter with a bright yellow four bladed rotor that spins. Unfortunately the rotor is removable and the peg is far too short and not thick enough resulting in a great many Blaze Masters not having their rotor blades.
Transform: Remove the rotor blades. Fold the front of the helicopter forward 180 degrees to the legs. Stand with the underside of the helicopter facing you. Fold the tail down onto the robot's back. Peg the rotor blades into either wrist to act as a spinning blade weapon.
Blaze Master's robot mode features a chest and upper legs done in the same dark blue as his co-mould Tread Bolt. He has - and, barring an encounter with one of the four Japanese Micromasters I don't have, this will be the last time I ever type these words, the standard Micromaster articulation of turning shoulders and bending, but linked together, hips and knees. Unlike the some of the rest of the team his knees actually can bend properly in the correct direction. Sadly the rotor blade fits just as badly on the robot's arm as it does on the top of the vehicle.
Let down by the rotor blade that falls off.
The Autobot Air Patrol was sold in the west in 1990. In the same year, the toys were sold in Japan's Transformers Zone line with the same individual names as Cybertron Micromasters C-352 Sky Patrol Team.
