I don't know very much about this event, but I've always been intrigued by a war between the 3 most powerful Decepticon Leaders, Megatron, Shockwave and Scorponok. I feel it could have easily been a four way contest though, with the Cybertronian Decepticons joining in, under Thunderwing. Or was it just an Earth based conflict? Anywho, discussion wise for starters, does anyone know which Decepticons sided with which Leader? Is this conflict part of the 'Earthforce' continuity? We know Megatron won, but how? And what, if anything, did the Autobots do to take advantage of this situation?

It was one of the many things Simon Furman foreshadowed in his UK stories and then bottled out of when he wrote the US stories and decided he couldn't be bothered to make them tie in with 'Aspects of Evil', Earthforce and so on, leaving it to the fans to decide whether to contrive ways for them to fit together or consider them to be parallel timelines.
In the end, he just did a two-way civil war between Scorponok and Shockwave (with the Neo-Knights pitching in) in the space of about one issue, while Megatron was still a prisoner on the Ark.
If you're thinking in particular of that episode in 'Aspects of Evil' where the Air Strike Patrol attack Scorponok, the easiest explanation would be to say that Rodimus Prime's memory was a bit off, and that the battle took place just after the Pretender Classics origin story, with the AS Patrol unaware that Megatron had been thrown through an interdimensional portal and fused together with Ratchet.

If you want to know more about Earthforce and how it fits in with the rest of the Marvel UK Transformers storyline, then I suggest you have a half hour in a sensory depravation tank and then put your mind to something else entirely.
